Jake “The Snake” Roberts didn’t hold back his criticism of WWE’s newest reality show idea, openly expressing his disapproval. On his Snake Pit podcast, the Hall of Famer discussed the reports of a new series called Unrealistic, which aims to pull back the curtain on WWE’s creative process.
Roberts, known for his blend of mystique and psychological storytelling, believes that exposing how storylines and characters are developed is a major misstep that could harm the very product WWE wants to showcase. He started by cynically acknowledging WWE’s tendency to monetize every aspect of its brand.
“Well, they did everything else and made money from it. Maybe they do that too,” he remarked.
However, Roberts quickly stated that he thinks this move is a bad business decision.
“I think that’s stupid. I don’t think it will guarantee that the product will make enough money for the damage it does. That’s my own opinion,” he added.
As one of wrestling’s most convincingly intense characters, Roberts argued that revealing these behind-the-scenes layers destroys the illusion and weakens fans’ emotional connection to the show. Although he has been involved with AEW since 2020 and spends more time off-camera now, his traditional view on protecting the integrity of wrestling remains strong. The concept of Unrealistic clearly doesn’t sit well with him.
