Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega is collaborating with Mexico’s Lucha Libre AAA to focus on a partnership involving WWE. During WrestleMania 41 weekend, WWE announced its acquisition of AAA, and two months later, the organizations joined forces for their inaugural joint event, WWE Worlds Collide, held on June 7th.

Under the leadership of Nick Khan and Triple H, WWE has shifted towards more collaborative efforts, while AEW has continuously worked closely with WWE’s current partners, including TNA and AAA, since its inception in 2019. On Wrestling Observer radio, Kenny Omega expressed enthusiasm about these developments, noting WWE’s integration of Lucha Libre styles and the diverse wrestling talents on AEW’s roster.

Omega highlighted the exciting range of talent, from high-flyers like Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland to powerful wrestlers such as Bobby Roode, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Samoa Joe, filling previously missing elements on the roster. He emphasized the blend of lucha libre influences now present and praised the cooperation between AAA and WWE, describing it as a nearly perfect merger aimed at showcasing varied wrestling styles to appeal to a broad audience.

Both WWE and AEW are gearing up for major events next weekend. AEW will host its first US stadium show in Texas, featuring AEW International Champion Kenny Omega against AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada in a “Winner Takes All” match for the unified AEW Championship. Meanwhile, WWE will have a series of events in Atlanta, Georgia, including the NXT Great American Bash and WWE Evolution.

Fan Take: This partnership and crossover potential highlight a significant shift in wrestling, offering fans unique matchups and style blends that could redefine the sport’s landscape. For AEW fans, Omega’s involvement signals exciting opportunities for fresh storytelling and high-caliber competition that transcends traditional boundaries.
