Trish Stratus shared her thoughts on the rushed preparation for Evolution 2, the much-anticipated all-women’s pay-per-view event coming nearly seven years after the original. Fans and female wrestlers alike had long awaited the return of a dedicated women’s PPV, but the buildup this time around lacked polish. The main roster match was only announced a few weeks prior, as WWE focused on its return to Saudi Arabia, leaving little time for storylines to develop between rivals.
In a recent interview with Notsam Wrestling, the WWE Hall of Famer noted how quickly the entire PPV card seemed to have been thrown together. She acknowledged the hectic WWE schedule, saying, “Unfortunately, this whole card seemed like a quick turnaround. I got it. It seems like there are 7,000 events a month.”
Trish Stratus is scheduled to challenge the women’s champion, Tiffany Stratton, this Sunday at the Premium Live Event (PLE). Fortunately, their feud has been teased ahead of time, helping build a natural storyline given their similar backgrounds and appearances. Stratus mentioned that when she returned to WWE, she was ready to switch her mindset into wrestling mode, and both she and Tiffany strive to make the most of their matches, even when conditions for storytelling are less than ideal.
Stratus said, “Yes, there are a few proverbs like ‘You can only control what you can control.’ Do I hope we had a longer segment last week? Yes. You get your time, you do your thing, and sometimes things are thrown together. It’s what it is, right? For me, it’s the game I control — controlling the match, controlling the story — that’s where I know I can do my job.”
Evolution 2 is set to happen on Sunday, July 13th, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
