A former WWE superstar made a surprise return to NXT’s CW Network on the evening of July 15th. The episode heavily focused on promoting TNA’s upcoming Slammiversary Pay-Per-View event scheduled for Sunday, July 20th, highlighting the crossover between NXT and TNA.

One of the featured matches at Slammiversary involves NXT’s Trick Williams defending the TNA World Championship in a triple threat match against Joe Hendry and Mike Santana. During tonight’s NXT show, the three competed in a six-man tag team match alongside Darkstate members Saquon Shugars, Dion Lennox, and Osiris Griffin. Tensions rose as Williams was attacked by Hendry and Santana, putting the latter two at a numerical disadvantage of two against five. However, the arrival of TNA stars Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, and JDC evened the odds.

This event marked Brian Myers’ first WWE appearance in years; he’s known formerly as Curt Hawkins and had two WWE runs from 2006 to 2014 and 2016 to 2020. JDC, known as Fundango in WWE, previously appeared in NXT during the TNA crossover, making Myers’ return more notable.

A chaotic five-on-five brawl ensued, with Hendry and Santana emerging dominant. Also featured was the TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Suramovic, who teamed up with Sol Luka and Zaria in a fatal impact match. At Slammiversary, Sulamovic will face NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne in a high-stakes title-versus-title showdown.

Fan Take: This crossover event is significant for WWE fans because it blends talent from two popular wrestling promotions, potentially reshaping storylines and rivalries. The return of familiar faces like Brian Myers and the promotion of upcoming big matches like the title-for-title clash inject fresh excitement into the wrestling scene, promising thrilling developments ahead.
