Brian Cage is currently recovering from surgery on both knees, yet this setback hasn’t held him back. The AEW star is making significant strides in Hollywood with a role in an upcoming film directed by Steven Spielberg.

In a conversation with Wrestling Magic, Cage revealed that Chabo Guerrero initially reached out to him about a wrestling-themed TV show. When that project stalled, Guerrero moved ahead using the name Cage for a new movie, which quickly caught the interest of producers.

Cage recalled receiving an email saying, “Hey, I just sat down and saw everything about you and the director. He absolutely loves you. He thinks you’re perfect. He knows everything about you.”

Although Cage was thrilled, he had no idea which director they were referring to until he reached out for clarification. That’s when he discovered one of Hollywood’s most renowned filmmakers was a fan.

He shared, “I’ll call that guy… and he’ll go,” Stephen said this, Stephen said. ” And I go, ‘Steven?’ And he says, ‘Yeah, that’s Steven Spielberg.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, ah, sh*t.'”

When asked about a potential co-star, Cage didn’t hesitate to mention his AEW tag partner, Lance Archer. The two had reportedly shot scenes together prior to Cage’s injuries. The movie is slated for release in June 2026, although this date may still be subject to change.

Back in early 2025, it was reported that Cage had suffered a torn quadriceps during an independent wrestling event and had not undergone surgery for up to a year. His return timeline remains uncertain, but he continues to make an impact inside and outside the wrestling ring.
