AEW Unveils New Identity for Broadcast Partner in Exciting Rebrand Reveal

AEW’s primary broadcast partner is undergoing significant changes as its business operations are being divided. Since May 2019, AEW’s Dynamite show has aired on a Warner-owned network, initially on TNT and now on TBS.

Recent reports reveal that Warner Bros. Discovery will split into two separate publicly traded companies. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new streaming and studio company will be called Warner Bros., while the separate Global Network Company will be named Discovery Global. Warner Bros. will encompass Warner Film and TV Studios, DC Studios, HBO and HBO Max, as well as the TCM cable channels. Meanwhile, Discovery Global will manage the former Discovery and Turner linear channels, which include TNT, TBS, CNN, Cartoon Network, Discovery Channel, Food Network, and HGTV, along with international TV channels and the Discovery+ streaming service.

David Zaslav, who played a key role in AEW’s recent media agreements and negotiations with Tony Khan, will oversee Warner Bros., while Gunnar Weidenfel will head Discovery Global. Since January, HBO Max has been streaming AEW content and recently went through a rebranding phase, briefly becoming “Max” before returning to its original name. Tony Khan has hinted that AEW might consider adding a third weekly TV show in the future.

Fan Take: This reshuffling of Warner Bros. Discovery could open new doors for AEW’s broadcasting and streaming opportunities, potentially expanding its audience reach. For AEW fans, this means more chances to catch their favorite wrestling moments and possibly more content as the company grows its media presence.
