Dominik Mysterio Faces the Challenge of Possible Babyface Turns in WWE

Although Dominic Mysterio has long been one of WWE’s most despised villains, the Intercontinental Champion has recently started to receive more positive reactions from fans. In an interview with Bleacher Report, Mysterio spoke about the shifting crowd dynamics and the possibility of him turning into a fan-favorite character in the future.

Known as “Dirty Dom,” he admitted that while boos still dominate, he has noticed fans occasionally singing along to his entrance music.

“I respond to whatever the crowd gives me,” he said. “Right now, they mostly boo, but sometimes they chant my dirty Dom song. It’s pretty funny and I end up smiling because it’s cool hearing everyone sing together.”

When asked if this growing support might lead him to embrace a babyface role, Mysterio remained noncommittal. He emphasized that his persona remains unchanged and suggested that any character shifts need to happen naturally.

“I don’t know if I’ll take on that role because I’ve always been Dirty Dom,” he remarked. “We have to wait and see… it’s got to be genuine. You can’t force it.”

Mysterio’s remarks came just a day after he scored a major victory at the Summerslam Premium Live event. During two shows at MetLife Stadium, “Dirty Dom” successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles, who represents the “superficial” side. This win stands as one of the most notable moments in his career. It’s yet to be seen if his increasing fan support will continue to build following this triumph.

Fan Take: This development is exciting for WWE enthusiasts because it shows that a well-crafted character can evolve and connect with audiences in unexpected ways. If Dominic Mysterio’s popularity keeps rising, it could lead to fresh storytelling angles and invigorate the mid-card scene with new rivalries and dynamics.
