Dave Bautista is increasing his presence in major film projects.

According to Deadline, the former WWE wrestler has revealed involvement in two significant Amazon MGM Studios revivals of classic film franchises.

First, Bautista is set to star alongside Henry Cavill in the upcoming Chad Stahelsky-directed reboot of “Highlander.” He is reportedly cast as Kurgan, the iconic villain originally played by Clancy Brown in the 1986 cult favorite starring Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert.

Additionally, Bautista is returning for “Roadhouse 2,” a follow-up to last year’s reboot of the ’80s barroom brawler, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal. Gyllenhaal reprises his role as former UFC fighter Dalton, with the sequel written by Will Beall, known for “Bad Boys: Riding or Die.”

The production of “Roadhouse 2” is overseen by Charles Roven and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment, alongside Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories Productions. Ivan Atkinson and Josh McLaughlin serve as executive producers. Previously, Guy Ritchie was attached to the project, but the directorial role has since been taken over by Ilya Naishuller.

Despite a busy schedule, Bautista continues to demonstrate his versatility and commitment to genre franchises. Represented by WME and Jackoway Austen Tyerman, he remains a powerful and adaptable star in the entertainment industry.

Fan Take: This news is exciting for WWE fans because Bautista’s growing film career showcases the diverse talents that can emerge from wrestling backgrounds. His continued success in Hollywood could bring more mainstream attention to WWE, potentially boosting the sport’s popularity and inspiring other wrestlers to expand their horizons.
