AEW and ROH recently shared on X that Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun have signed new contracts to remain with the joint promotion. A Fightful Select report confirmed that the tag team inked multi-year deals and noted that their negotiations were assisted by Steve Kay from Paragon Talent Agency, who was also seen attending the recent AEW Dynamite taping.
Liona and Kaun made their respective AEW debuts in 2021 but only formed their tag team, The Gate of Suffering, in 2022. Initially supporting Brian Cage and managed by Tully Blanchard, the team saw a management change as Prince Nana took over, eventually aligning with Swerve Strickland under the Mogul Embassy name. They later separated from Cage’s group and operated as a trio until Cage’s departure last October. More recently, Liona and Kaun shortened their team name to Gore and teamed up with Ricochet. They won a $200,000 four-way match on AEW Collision but fell short against Brodid (Brody King and Bandido) in the AEW World Team Championship Eliminator Tournament.
Fan Take: This signing secures two promising talents that have steadily built chemistry and a unique identity in AEW’s tag division. Their continued presence could shake up the tag team scene and add fresh competition, which is exciting for fans eager to see new rivalries and dynamic matches.
