AEW Collision Results (8/9/25): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show welcomes us by Tony Ciaborne and Nigel McGuinness, and Paul Walter Hauser at the commentary desk. Kyle Fletcher sees the attack on Dustin Rhodes and goes on the way to the ring for the first match of the night, addressing Dustin, who needs surgery. Ishii’s Tomohiro heads into the ring for the first match of the night.

The match starts with ISHII making an early attack, which leads to both men trading forearm strikes. Things then slow for a while before both men quickly return. Fletcher then hits the rope, but is dropped onto the mat with a tackle on the shoulder of the ishii. Fletcher then tries to return to it, but is sent to the rope by the ishii, where Fletcher blows outwards. Fletcher then delivers some chops to the ishii, and the ishii responds by causing Fletcher to collide with the corner. Ishii then sends Fletcher to another corner, chopping more, and continues to polish Fletcher until Fletcher spins it and sends the stone ishii to the mat with a hard kick.
Fletcher then continues his attack and ishii, but kicks off a few times from the ishii before dropping him down in the scoop slam. Fletcher then sets up for the chinlock, but Ishii steps in before dropping Fletcher with a sort suppression. Ishii then hits the rope and is brought to the mat with PowerSlam. Both men expose it and look for a vertical suppression. Ishii only goes back to his feet when Fletcher goes to the ropes and is beaten hard by the ishii’s shoulder tackle. Ishii then sends Fletcher into the corner and sets him up in the top turnbuckle.
Fletcher then begins to fight back before taking the headbutt from Ishii. Ishii then hits SuperPlex and will be fall nearby. Fletcher then catches Ishii with the rope and pushes him onto the floor. Fletcher then hits the ishii with an apron, causing his brain to fade. Fletcher then sends the ishii back into the ring and slams him with a frog bow. Fletcher then goes to the cover, but the ishii kicks out. Then both men go back to their feet and go to it. Both men then trade strikes before Fletcher defeats Ishii with a knee strike. Fletcher then sends the ishii to the corner. However, it is a hit with a power bomb by the ishii. Ishii then hits the rope for a big Lariat and goes to the cover, but Fletcher kicks out with 2.
Fletcher then goes down to his knees and the ishii responds with a headbutt. Ishii asks for a cover, but Fletcher kicks out with 2. Ishii misses the sliding Lariat and Fletcher hits the power bomb. Fletcher then goes to the cover, but Ishii kicks out with 2. Fletcher then hits a running kick in the corner, and the ishii responds with Lariat. Fletcher then hits a thin drop brainbuster for victory.

After the match, Fletcher grabs the microphone and says that this is the first defence of what will go down as the biggest title rule in history. After that, Fletcher says first Adam Cole, then Dustin Rhodes, and now Tomohiro of Ishui, but what’s next for Protostal? Fletcher then says that’s where he’s starting to think about the forbidden door. Later, Fletcher says he’s with Ishii and he says he’s thinking about his new Japanese day. Fletcher then says he hopes to send the pound to NJPW for the pound and face him for the TNT Championship. Fletcher then says that no one matters because the outcome is the same, keeping the title in Aloft, forcing fans to say his full name.
After that, we head backwards. There, Don Karis says that Fletcher is embarking on his quest to defeat ISHII and fulfill Fletcher’s fate. Charis says he will play a major role in the success of NJPW. Charis says he wants to send a message to NJPW management. Charis says he wants them to do his best to play against Fletcher, and when he feels embarrassed he will use his new Japanese tie to suffocate them. Charis says that whoever they send will be in the ashes.
It is then announced that the four men will be shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship with Zack Saber Jr. at Forbidden Door, and that the men will be Hexero, Nigel McGuinness, Lee Moriarty and Daniel Garcia.
Next, we’ll see today that Ricochet and Goa send messages behind the scenes as Ricochet and Goa are making demands of respect.
Then head backstage to another area. There, Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne tackle Christian Cage and his empty lies. Wayne says that despite Cage had to say last week, he is already a star and if someone is shocked about what he did to Christian, they haven’t seen anything yet. Wayne then says that the next chapter ends Christian Cage’s career.
