John Cena has named several wrestlers he considers his “soulmates” in the wrestling world, and Cody Rhodes is among them. At a recent live event, Cody Rhodes reclaimed the WWE Championship, solidifying his status as one of the top stars. In an interview with the Boston Herald, Cena reflected on his wrestling journey and highlighted his connections with stars like Randy Orton, Edge (now known as Adam Copeland in AEW), CM Punk, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and notably Cody Rhodes, acknowledging the special impact Rhodes has made.

After SummerSlam, Rhodes shared how meaningful it was to be part of Cena’s last run. Cena and Orton both started in OVW in 2002 and quickly moved up to WWE’s main roster. Seth Rollins, another of Cena’s soulmates, revealed in April that Cena is one of his favorite people and credited him with valuable advice on promos for TV. Edge, inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame before his exit in September 2023, began his AEW career the following month.

As John Cena approaches retirement, his final WWE match will be against Logan Paul at WWE Clash in Paris on August 31.

Fan Take: This news is significant for AEW fans because it highlights the deep respect and connections Cody Rhodes has built across wrestling promotions, reinforcing his role as a bridge between WWE and AEW.
