Six Reasons: What We Can’t Stand and What We Adore!

I was somewhat let down when the Iyo Sky Challenge for Naomi’s WWE Women’s World Championship title was canceled. While I sincerely wish Naomi well—I’ve experienced my share of setbacks—it’s hard not to feel disappointed, especially given how talented Iyo Sky is among both male and female wrestlers. Naomi has a captivating style, and the match’s cancellation was a real letdown.

On the brighter side, Roxanne Perez stepped in as Sky’s opponent and delivered an impressive performance, adding excitement to what could have been a rather dull episode of "WWE Raw."

To be transparent, I’ve been a fan of Perez since her breakout in the "WWE NXT" tournament. I admired her when she played the underdog against Mandy Rose, and though she’s young, her skills are undeniable. Even against Sky—known for her athletic prowess—Perez made a name for herself, showcasing her talent and making the match memorable. If she can develop a strong character, she has the potential to become a standout star in women’s wrestling.

The match itself was a thrilling encounter that got the Quebec crowd engaged right from the start, as early athletic displays from Sky set a high standard. The evenly matched contest kept fans on the edge of their seats, with each strike and maneuver feeling impactful. Although Perez seemed to be at a disadvantage physically, she gave it her all, pressuring Sky throughout.

While I wasn’t thrilled with the way the match concluded, it created intriguing narrative opportunities for Sky and opened the door for potential storylines involving Asuka and Kairi Sain. Plus, Perez’s win, even if it was a bit controversial, was a significant boost for her momentum.

I genuinely wish Naomi all the best, but the match between Sky and Perez was truly a spectacle.

Editorial Opinion: This matchup not only highlights the rising talent in women’s wrestling but also underscores the importance of building compelling storylines. Exciting matches like Sky vs. Perez could pave the way for the growth of women’s wrestling, drawing in more fans and increasing the stakes in future competitions.
