Ace Austin has officially joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW), with AEW President Tony Khan confirming his signing during a taping at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center. Austin made his debut in the episode set to air on August 16th across TNT and HBO Max.
This upcoming episode is loaded with exciting matches, including a $100,000 four-way bout featuring Julia Hart, Chris Starlander, Anna Jay, and Penelope Ford. Additionally, there’s a tag team showdown with “Speed Ball” Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight going up against John Moxley & Wheeler Yuta, as well as an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Eliminator match involving Niger McGuin, Hechero, and a special appearance at the Forbidden Door event in London.
Austin, 28, brings experience from his six years at TNA Wrestling, where he was a three-time X-Division Champion and twice held the tag team titles with Chris Bey. His departure from TNA in May was reportedly amicable, with former TNA President Scott Damore commenting that Austin was “ready for the next chapter.” Since then, Austin has competed in various independent promotions, including Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling. His signing comes shortly before AEW’s major international event, the Forbidden Door at the O2 Arena in London on August 24th.
Fan Take: Ace Austin’s arrival adds a fresh and dynamic talent to the AEW roster, promising exciting new rivalries and matches. For AEW fans, this move signals the promotion’s continued growth and ability to attract top-tier wrestlers, potentially raising the overall level of competition in pro wrestling.
