WWE SmackDown Results (9/5/25): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show begins with a commentary that welcomes us, seeing the arrival of several stars, including commercial punk. Then we’ll recreate the video package from WWE Clash at PLE Paris last weekend. The focus will be on John Cena’s victory over Logan Paul and Seth Rollins, who maintain the World Heavyweight Championship thanks to the help of Becky Lynch.
John Cena’s music hits and he moves towards the ring. Cena is then introduced to the ring, and the crowd cheers him on.
Cena receives praise from the crowd, but she can’t speak yet as fans recite “Thank you Cena” before they say they don’t know what it means to come from Chicago. Cena talks about this being a special night. Cena says when he first announced his retirement tour, people told him to enjoy this. Cena then says he needs to take off many bad years and get back to Mojo. Cena says he wanted to find the soul again and leave it all in the ring. Cena says he wanted to have fun tonight.
After that, Cena had to overcome the hurdles for more than half of this tour, and fans were with him, but tonight he is trying to incorporate it. Cena then points out a few fans who say they’re saying they all seem to say something else. After that, Cena can say “fu cena” and fill in the blank. Cena then talks about these fans bringing people back, which brings out the “AJ Lee” chant from the crowd.
Cena then talks about making his big WWE debut in the city, walking through his revealing tights ramp and knocking on the corners of the cart for this crazy ride strike. Cena then talks about the match between the building’s Triple H and others and how it appeared second in the world title match, where the title ends in the CM Punk fridge. Cena says this is WWE’s biggest crowd. Some say that China may have a debate afterwards, but there’s nothing from him. Cena thanked that this crowd was there for him, keeping him humble and allowing him to experience failure and humility. Another “Thank you China” chant helped him experience joy, as he said at the end when he needed it most. Cena thanks fans here in Chicago and says he has no other words to enjoy tonight’s hell. Before he leaves, Cena is interrupted by the arrival of Sami Zain.
The crowd then sings along with the theme of the new US champion, and he moves towards the ring, seeking his own microphone. The crowd begins booing Zayn, saying that after seeing him on this tour, they just wanted to tell Cena. Cena tries to calm the crowd by saying it’s happy hour here in Chicago and he’s here for a “booing.” Fans start booing Zayn again until he reveals he’s here to thank Cena. This gets a great response as he is grateful for everything. He then made his debut with Cena in WWE, admitting to chasing the US championship and now stands here as that champion. Zayn then asks Cena for permission to continue his legacy of recognizing the US Open Challenge and providing the opportunity.
Cena praises this and says that she will give him his blessing when he starts leaving, and that Zayn will not leave yet. Zena gives him the opportunity and now says that when Cena puts one foot out of the door, Zain barely holds one foot at the door. Zayn wants to offer Cena to that opportunity at the US Championships if this is the last time Cena is here in Chicago and this is Zayn’s last chance to share the ring with him. Zayn says he doesn’t want to do this in a month or a week. He wants that in Chicago now. Zayn says if you want some, come and get some. Cena then repeats what Zayn said, making sure he understands the match. Cena then tells Zayn that he is there. Cena then takes off his shirt as he’s ready to go and the match goes up next.
WWE US Championship Open Challenge Match: Sami Zayn (C) vs. 17-time World Champion John Cena
The match begins with Cena hitting a shoulder tackle. Both men then lock and Cina lowers Sami on the wrist lock. Cina tightens with a side headlock. Sami then strikes resistance in his arm before moving on to the armbar. Sami then tightens the wrist lock. Cena then hits the drag on her arm and transitions to the armbar. Cina tightens with a side headlock. Sami then goes to the frog’s leap, but he clips Cina. Sami then hits the clothesline for the nearby autumn. Sami then hits the suppressx and he will be in the fall nearby.
Cena then blocks the suppression several times, and Cena hits his own suppression. Cina lets her elbows out in the corner as Sami moves. Sami then thrusts a hard Irish whip. Sami then tightens the lock on the front and Cina raises Sami, but Sami escapes and applies the wrist lock and goes to the tornado DDT. Cena then hits with a nearby autumn attitude adjustment. Sami then sets up the explosiver in the turnbuckle, but Cena hits some elbows and pop-up power bombs for almost fall. Cena then misses the shoulder of the horn and hits the ring post. Sami then sets up for the Helluva Kick. Sami then misses and China bumps into the fall near the Olympic slums.
Cena then punches, and Sami punches. Cena then hits a kick and Sami hits another punch. Then both men hit each other’s laundry, and both men go down. Cina tightens the lock on her ankle. Sami then rolls and tries to drive away Cena. Cena is tightened with STF. Cina then pulls Sami into the center of the ring and reapplies the STF. Cena then pulls Sami into the center of the ring, but Sami kicks Cena into the turnbuckle, and Sami makes an upcoming autumn attitude adjustment. Sami then sets up a kick for Helba, but he is caught by Cena for attitude adjustment, and Cena is almost fallen. Sami then drives the explosive into the turnbuckle and follows it with a helluva kick for the nearby fall.
Sami then pulls Cina into place and Sami goes to the turnbuckle. Sami then goes up and jumps over China. Cena then attacks Sami with the GTS for the nearby fall. After that, Cena hits a spear and he almost becomes autumn. Cena crats Sami as if he were attacking. Sami then avoids RKO and Cena hits the clothesline. Cena then places Sami on the turnbuckle, and Cena hits with adjusting her avalanche attitude. Both men are down. Brock Lesnar’s music hits and he moves towards the ring. The block then pulls the judge onto the floor and enters the ring. Block then hits F5 with Sami. Brock then goes to Cena and he picks Cena up for F5.
The WWE US Championship Open Challenge Match will end with no contest!
After the match, Brock is in the ring and he smirks before awake Cena towards another F5. The block then walks down the aisle.
Next, check that it happened a while ago between Cena, Sami and Brock. Brock then tells Cena that he will meet him at Wrestlepalooza b ***h. Then you’ll get a graphics to check the match.
Behind the scenes, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis is seen, and Carmelo Hayes approaches him and tries to talk to him. Hayes says he wants to get a US title match and Miz wants a tag team title match. Then Aldis says he has to deal with things. The vehicle then arrives at the building and Becky Lynch appears.
Aleister Black cuts the promotion and says this is what you want from me. Black said that he thought the world was different, but still poisoned. Black says you are standing opposite the hatred of years and he is standing to cleanse. Black says he can become king or fall into his own sword. Black says you are who you are, because you follow the rules. Black says he’s who he is, as he follows the rules until he doesn’t.
Black attacks the priest as he advances towards the ring for the next match of the night. The priest punches the floor. Black then sends the priest to the ring post and sends the ringside wall to the crowd. Black then sits in the ring as medical staff and staff check on the priest.
Single Match: Damien Priest vs. Aleister Black
The match begins with the priest, but he heads to the ring, with the Black Kicks priest and priest returning to the floor. The priest then sends Black to the floor, but Black is hitting a round kick into the temple. The judge then instructs Black to retreat. They then return to the ring and the priest says it’s better for him to go. Black avoids punches, while Black places the priest in the corner. Black hits several kicks. The priest hits several punches and forearms. Black hits his forearm and snap mares, chasing him with a chest kick. After that, the black will be closer. Black goes to the turnbuckle and poses. The priest cuts the black legs, and the black breaks the crotch. The priest then sets the razor edge and Black escapes. The priest hits several kicks and gentle elbows. The priest bumps into another forearm. The priest then slams his elbows into the corner, but Black responds with his boots. The priest then hits a black kick. The priest then goes to the turnbuckles and ropes, go to the old school, and he slaps the cross. Black goes to the floor.
The priest then hits a flat liner into the apron and hits the second apron. The priest then coordinates the announcement desk. The priest goes to the razor edge to the announcement desk and the black land above it. The priest then places the black back in the ring, and the priest asks the clock to time out. The strap then descends for the priest. The priest then grabs the black and black and grabs the judge. Black then pushes the judge into the priest and he strikes the Black Mass for victory.

After that, I got a graphic that reminded me of a women’s US championship match.
Then get the video packages for Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton. Randy says Drew should know what he can do. Drew says Randy can’t pull the trigger, but he can. Randy says Drew doesn’t want to know what the voice says. Drew says WWE needs a real guy like him. Randy then says he’ll send Drew to reality.
It was then announced next week that Drew McIntyre will face Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar will be smackdown and Tiffany Stratton will defend the women’s title against Jade Cargill.
Next, we see Kathy Kelly interviewing Tiffany Stratton. Kelly asks Stratton about his match against Cargill next week. Tiffany says Jade has a lot to say and she loves to run her mouth. Tiffany then says that all the talk will end when they meet in the ring next week. Tiffany then says that her legs are not on the rope, which will be in her stormy eyes. Jade is in the locker room and Nia Jax shows up and asks if Jade was defeated by Tiffany. Nia says Jade doesn’t deserve a #1 candidate spot. Jade says Nia can get her shot after beating Tiffany for the title.
Julia then goes to the ring for her next night match with Kiana James.
Becky Lynch is then on her phone, with SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis appearing. Nick says he didn’t know Becky was here. Nick says they handle a lot and commercial punks are in the building. Nick then tells Becky that there’s no problem tonight. Becky then says that she understands and leaves the room.
The sewing machine then proceeds to the next match in the evening.
WWE Women’s US Championship Match: “The Beautiful Madness” Julia (C) vs. Sewing Machine
The match begins with Kiana James riding the apron as a replacement punch for the sewing machine and Julia. The sewing machine then hits several punches and kicks. Julia is then sent to the floor and the sewing machine continues. The sewing machine then sends Julia back into the apron and returns it to the ring. Julia then misses the boots and the sewing machine hits a dropkick. The sewing machine then hangs from the rope, and Julia goes to the floor when the sewing machine moves. Julia then blocks the baseball slide and points a hanging neckbreaker from the apron towards the floor.
Julia paints her eyes as she continues fighting around the ring. Julia then sends the sewing machine back to the ring. The sewing machine then hits the forearm and Julia hits the headbutt. Julia then rose to the top for a missile dropkick, and she almost falls. Julia then attacks several punches. Julia then hits a few chops and forearms. Julia then nails her forearm over the bridge of her nose, and Julia stretches out the sewing machine with the rope. Julia then slaps the boots on her head, sends the sewing machine head to the mat, and sends it in the nearby autumn. Julia then goes to the rock of the level, but she attempts a Saturn ring with a fish hook.
The sewing machine then escapes and Julia bumps into the forearm. Michin then blocks Suplex and Michin counters with DDT. After that, you can change your forearms and sewing machines have benefits. Sewing machine and Julia then smacked the butt on her head. Julia then hits a German suppression, and the sewing machine pops up and hits one of her own. Then, when both women slap at the same time, both women fall. The sewing machine then hits some forearms and fur kicks. The sewing machine then hits a cannonball, and she almost falls. The sewing machine then sets up Eat’s defeat, but Julia blocks it and strikes an aurora bomb for almost autumn. Julia then hits a kick to her head and knees. The sewing machine then blocks the kick and she raises Julia for a sit-out power bomb for the nearby fall. The sewing machine is then defeated, but Kiana is in the apron. The sewing machine then sends Julia to Kiana, and the sewing machine hits the head scissor driver with Kiana. Julia then slaps the sewing machine’s head knee for victory.

After the match, James attacks the sewing machine and the referee pulls Kiana away from the sewing machine.
Then let’s take a look at what happened with last week’s WWE Women’s Tag Title Match. We then head backwards, where Charlotte Flair asks if anything good happens to her in this city. Alexa Bliss appears and she tells Charlotte that Dr. Lily will meet her. Charlotte says he needs to be cleared so that he can revenge on Chelsea and Alba. Alexa then says he’ll revenge when the time comes. Alexa then tells Charlotte to rest, and perhaps the power of friendship can help her.
Seth Rollins’ music hits and goes his way.
Rollins says tonight we are all witnesses to history as your hero commercial punk legend dies here and now. Rollins then says he will present the honor of introducing the best female wrestlers in Becky Lynch of history. Becky then heads to the ring. Seth and Becky then blow kisses each other from afar, and the crowd chants for Aji Lee to appear. Becky then screams into the crowd, chanting the names of others while she stands in the ring. Becky then says that she is the greatest female wrestler of all time. Becky then says this is classic Chicago. Becky says he doesn’t know what greatness looks like. Then Becky says that all your teams will suck. Becky says commercial punk sucks.
CM punk music is a hit and the crowds appear on stage as they sing his theme. Punk then descends the ramp and gives thanks to the front row fans on their way to the ring. Seth then shows Seth in the crowd, and before Punk can waving at him before he poses with an apron and turnbuckle, you can enter the ring itself. Punk stares at Lynch before getting the microphone. The crowd chants Punk’s name, and Punk says this is not about Becky, but about her husband’s coli disease, but Lynch claims it is about her.
Lynch asks Punk if he’s embarrassed, but Punk says he doesn’t. Punk then says that he is not co-impressively embarrassed by Paul Heyman and his husband hiding behind his fools. Becky then asks Punk how his face is doing and how his pride is doing. Another “Aji Lee” chant is closed by Becky, but Punk says they have them recite Aji Lee’s name. Punk says that if it bothered Becky that much, he shouldn’t have pulled his nose where it didn’t belong. Punk says we’re in Chicago and doesn’t think he’ll be able to snap his fingers and get one of his sisters to beat Becky. Punk then raises Bailey and Becky says he already beat her. Punk also raises Rare Ripley before Lynch responds by hitting Punk multiple times. Punk then refuses to fight back and he leaves the ring, as Becky tells him to escape. Punk says this is the type of situation he never wanted to be. Punk says he will never put his hands on a woman, but he knows who.
AJ Lee’s music then hits and takes to stage with a huge pop from the Chicago crowd. Lee then skipped the ramp and didn’t lose the stage when she last saw her as she circled the ring before smiling at Punk. Lee then takes his attention to Becky and gets on the apron, stepping on the ropes as the crowd takes more and more electricity. The “Holy S-t” hymn activates Becky is indicted at Lee and Becky drops him onto the mat for a punch. Becky then tries to leave the ring, but AJ deals more damage and pulls her back. AJ then takes Becky to the corner, bringing in a few more strikes before Becky lined up for a slap that rolls out of the ring. Becky then retreates out of the ring as Punk steps in, and Rollins scrambles through the crowd and reorganizes the ramp with his wife. Punk and Lee hug the ring before AJ climbs another big pop with the turnbuckle, staring between the two couples as the show approaches.
