Oba Femi Steps Away from the WWE NXT Championship Pursuit

2 Min Read

Obafemi, who recently returned to action, is moving quickly. On Tuesday’s episode of “NXT: Gold Rush,” “The Ruler” challenged Ricky Saints for the “NXT” Championship in one of the first confirmed matches for the upcoming event Deadline. Femi described the Saints as the same competitors he aimed to defeat before, dismissing the recent NXT vs. TNA rivalry as trivial, and also downplaying Saints’ recent rivalry with former NXT champ Trick Williams as a contest for “best dressed.”

Femi declared that all such distractions fall under his control. He said the Saints haven’t changed, but he has reinvented himself into a version they are incapable of beating. Femi acknowledged Saints’ efforts but warned that while they have enjoyed their moment, the sun will set on the Absolute Era as he is the one who casts the shadow, takes everything away, and ultimately destroys them.

Saints accepted the challenge, confirming they will face off at Deadline for the NXT Championship. Before the discussion could move forward, Trick Williams appeared but was abruptly attacked by Miles Bourne, who claimed he would be the next winner of NXT’s upcoming Iron Survivor Challenge. Although Bourne showed interest in Deadline, his participation in the Iron Survivor Challenge is yet to be confirmed. The only official match so far remains Saints versus Femi for the NXT title.

Fan Take: This development injects fresh intensity into the NXT title scene, providing fans with a high-stakes rivalry that promises thrilling in-ring action. Obafemi’s reinvention and bold challenge signal a potential power shift in WWE’s future landscape, making Deadline a must-watch event for wrestling enthusiasts.
