Velvet Sky Condemns Dixie Carter as ‘Villainous’ for TNA’s Harsh Treatment of Talent

Velvet Sky, who spent a significant part of her wrestling career with TNA Wrestling and worked closely with Dixie Carter, has recently been inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame. Reflecting on her time with Carter, Sky shared some “sneaky” behaviors she observed from the former TNA president.

Sky recalled a 2009 meeting hosted by Carter where big changes for TNA were announced, including bringing in Hulk Hogan and a brief period where TNA competed directly with WWE Monday Night Raw in 2010. Despite Carter’s bold claims, Sky said those present were largely uninterested and frustrated at having to sit through the meeting, feeling it was more about boosting Carter’s ego than sharing meaningful information.

Sky described the atmosphere during the meeting, saying it was clear the locker room and staff did not care about Carter’s speech and felt forced to support her domineering attitude. She also criticized Carter’s treatment of others, stating that Carter was disliked for how she mistreated people who couldn’t benefit her and spoke poorly about others, calling the behavior “despicable” and labeling Carter as “sneaky.”

Sky is not alone in her criticism; AJ Styles remarked in 2020 on his Twitch stream that Carter “doesn’t know how wrestling works,” while Sky’s tag team partner Angelina Love described Carter as a “disaster” in 2021, blaming her incompetence for TNA losing its contract with Spike TV.

Fan Take: These candid reflections from Velvet Sky and others highlight long-standing frustrations with leadership in TNA Wrestling, underlining the challenges the promotion faced behind the scenes. Understanding this history is crucial for fans to appreciate the resilience and evolution of the sport, as well as the impact leadership has on wrestling’s growth and success.
