Becky Lynch Clarifies: Blacklist Warning Targeted Someone Else, Not Vince McMahon

3 Min Read

Becky Lynch recently shared some intense backstage stories that quickly stirred up the wrestling community, but fans might have targeted the wrong individual. According to Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio, Vince McMahon was not the person Lynch was referring to. Lynch appeared on the podcast “Something Is Burning” alongside Seth Rollins, where she discussed unsettling warnings she received early in her WWE career. She explained that female wrestlers were cautioned to steer clear of certain male colleagues backstage. One main roster wrestler, in particular, was reportedly using his status to manipulate women, blacklisting them whether they complied with his advances or not.

Lynch said, “Back then, we were also told, ‘Stay away from the boys. Stay away from the boys. No, stay away from the boys.’ But it was like — I won’t reveal his name, but there was a guy on the main roster who was like, ‘Watch out.’ If he does, he will try to sleep with you, so be careful. If he sleeps with you, he will blacklist you. And if he tries to sleep with you and you don’t sleep with him, he will blacklist you.” She added, “You definitely know him,” which led fans to immediately speculate, many pointing fingers at Vince McMahon. However, Meltzer quickly dismissed this notion on Wrestling Observer Radio, stating, “She said ‘main roster performer.’ It’s not Vince McMahon she’s talking about… Vince was barely on TV when Becky became the main member. So, no, that’s not Vince.”

Meltzer criticized how Lynch’s decision to withhold the person’s identity fueled rampant speculation. He said, “She said, ‘I’ll never say who it is,’ but by telling that story, she was effectively allowing speculation to take place. This is really unfair… People are being accused with no information at all.” Vince McMahon, as an executive, does not fit the “main roster performer” description used by Lynch. Meltzer believes the person in question is a full-time wrestler who was prominent during Lynch’s early career.

Although Lynch did not aim to name any specific individuals, her openness sparked a wave of guessing games. Meltzer’s clarification was an effort to quell rumors around one of the most controversial figures in wrestling history.
