Killer Kross Champions ‘Underrated’ WWE Star as the Next World Title Contender

Former WWE performer Killer Kross, previously known as Karrion Kross, has publicly encouraged his former rival, whom he describes as “underrated,” to reclaim the world championship title. As 2026 approaches, it marks nearly a decade since WWE’s Finn Balor captured his first and only World Championship. Balor became the inaugural WWE Universal Champion at SummerSlam 2016 by defeating Seth Rollins in just his third televised main roster match after being promoted from NXT. Sadly, Balor sustained a severe shoulder injury during that match, leading to him being stripped of the title the following night, and despite his talent, he hasn’t reached the same heights since.

In an interview with Square Family Wrestling, Kross shared high praise for Balor, calling him tougher than many heavyweights despite being lighter and one of his favorite opponents. Kross expressed hope that Balor would become world champion again, emphasizing Balor’s natural ability and resilience. Kross exited WWE in August after his wife Scarlett’s contract expired, with his last match being a loss to Sami Zayn at SummerSlam Night 1 on August 2. Although he considered returning to WWE, he instead went back to the independent wrestling scene and has appeared in several promotions including DEFY, House of Glory, GCW, and MLW.

Fan Take: This endorsement from Killer Kross shines a spotlight on Finn Balor’s enduring potential and the respect he commands among fellow wrestlers, reminding WWE fans that Balor’s best days may still lie ahead. For the sport, it signals a possible resurgence of a fan-favorite talent, which could bring fresh excitement to WWE’s championship scene.
