WWE star LA Knight has shared his thoughts ahead of his upcoming match against Gunther in the finals of John Cena’s Last Time Is Now tournament. Following WWE Raw on December 1st, it was confirmed that John Cena’s final opponent would be either Gunther or LA Knight, after Gunther beat Solo Chicora and Knight defeated Jey Uso to reach the tournament’s climax.
LA Knight now stands one victory away from challenging John Cena in the main event on Saturday night. Speaking on WWE Raw Recap, Knight revealed he felt somewhat "offended" when co-host Megan Morant described Gunther as an unstoppable force. Knight acknowledged Gunther’s toughness but expressed frustration at not being acknowledged in a similar way, stating:
"You talk about an unstoppable force, this, that, whatever… I don’t want to take anything away from him, but everyone sees what he does, he’s very tough. You talk about Solo Chicora, very tough. You’re talking about two guys who have hurt a lot of people and done a lot of damage to this place, but at the same time, when you hear that, you start to get a little angry. I know you don’t mean it that way, but it sounds like that to me, because I’m like, ‘Oh, he’s an unstoppable force? Now, who’s talking about me like that?’ So you start thinking, ‘Wait a minute, let’s rewind a little bit, let’s look at history, let’s look at what happened, let’s look at what I’ve done, what I’ve been through.’ What Gunther has against me, the World Heavyweight Championship, I haven’t achieved it yet. You have a guy with more credentials than me. And what you’re talking about is that I can go out there and not only be able to defeat a so-called unstoppable force, but be able to defeat another former world champion like I did tonight. That’s another feather in the cap there."
The Last Time Is Now tournament finals will be held on December 5th during SmackDown, with the winner set to face John Cena in his final in-ring match on the main event special of Saturday night, December 13th.
Fan Take: This matchup is especially significant for WWE fans as it highlights the rising talent of LA Knight, who is positioning himself as a serious contender against established stars like Gunther and John Cena. The outcome could mark a pivotal moment in WWE storytelling, blending the legacy of a legend with the promise of new superstars, invigorating the sport’s future direction.
