Chris Jericho Teases Pro Wrestling Comeback in 2026 Amidst WWE Speculation

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) recently revealed that Chris Jericho’s contract with the company will expire at the end of 2025, and he plans to share WWE-related content. There is ongoing speculation about whether the soon-to-be Hall of Famer will return to WWE, as Jericho teased fans in a recent interview.

The positive news is that Jericho isn’t finished with professional wrestling yet, although it’s uncertain where he will be competing next. During an appearance on The Tim Weisberg Show in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Jericho was asked if he intended to wrestle in 2026. He responded, “Well, you never know. That’s the thing, I’m not done yet. So we’ll see where I end up, as I’m still figuring it all out. But I’m sure you’ll see me in a wrestling ring somewhere in 2026.”

Jericho has recently taken a break from wrestling to focus on his music career, especially with his KISS cover band, Quarantine. His last wrestling match took place on April 6th at the 2025 AEW Dynasty pay-per-view, where he lost the ROH World Heavyweight Title to Bandido, who remains the current champion.

Regarding the WWE versus AEW scenario, there have been rumors about Jericho’s potential future with WWE if he chooses not to re-sign with AEW. WWE reportedly offered him a retirement storyline, comparable to John Cena’s farewell tour that concludes on December 13th. If Jericho opts for this, it would be a fitting end to his WWE tenure. Jericho has spent six years with AEW and previously wrestled with New Japan Pro Wrestling. His last WWE match was in April 2018 at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, coincidentally where WWE is holding the first Royal Rumble outside of North America. This event could serve as a grand comeback for Jericho if he returns to WWE.

AEW’s president, Tony Khan, has expressed his desire to keep Jericho with AEW, acknowledging the veteran’s charisma and in-ring talent despite his age.

Fan Take: This news is exciting for WWE fans because Chris Jericho’s potential return could bring a surge of star power and memorable storylines to WWE programming. Jericho’s presence would not only boost viewership but also elevate the level of competition, making it a thrilling development for the wrestling world.
