WWE star CM Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, is expanding his career in Hollywood following his recent voice role in “Zootopia 2.” Deadline has revealed that Punk has been cast in a new Netflix project—an untitled film inspired by the 2022 novel “The Bodyguard,” not to be confused with the 1992 film starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. The romantic comedy will feature CW actors Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki, focusing on an action star and their protective bodyguard during the holiday season. Punk will play Doghouse, a security team member known for his loyalty and humor.

Besides his regular appearances on WWE programming, Punk continues to take on various acting roles, including this new film and the upcoming horror-action movie “Night Patrol,” where he portrays a vampire cop. Punk has also mentioned receiving guidance from fellow WWE alum Dave Bautista, who has successfully transitioned into acting.

Currently, CM Punk is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, having won the vacant title by defeating Jey Uso on November 1st. He recently participated in a WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series, though his team lost. Punk’s next title defense is scheduled for January 5th on WWE Raw against challenger Bron Breaker.

Fan Take: This crossover into Hollywood shows CM Punk’s growing versatility beyond wrestling, which could bring fresh attention and new fans to WWE. His ability to balance acting and championship duties keeps his character dynamic and exciting in the world of sports entertainment.
