Several well-known figures in professional wrestling have reflected on the current champion, who is contemplating retirement as he prepares to sign with WWE. On the Best for Business podcast, veteran ring announcer John Cena Sr., father of WWE superstar John Cena, shared his predictions about certain wrestlers destined for greatness based on their performances in the independent circuit. He mentioned Kofi Kingston as one talent he foresaw rising to stardom and highlighted Mercedes Mone (formerly known as Sasha Banks) as another wrestler he believed would shine in the future.

John Cena Sr. recalled a moment when Mercedes Mone considered quitting wrestling before ultimately joining WWE. He recounted telling her, “No, please stop! You don’t realize what you have. She had so many abilities but faced tough competition on the independent scene. It’s very easy to lose there, and only you can stand in your own way.”

Mercedes Mone has since signed with AEW and currently holds multiple titles on the independent scene alongside the AEW TBS Championship.

This update is significant as it showcases the resilience and talent that propel wrestlers from the independent circuit to major promotions like AEW and WWE. For AEW fans, the continued rise of stars like Mercedes Mone underscores the depth of talent now available in the wrestling world, promising fresh rivalries and compelling storylines that will enhance the sport’s landscape.
