AEW Stars Reflect on Their Previous WWE Discussions and Experiences

Kyle Fletcher, one of AEW’s most reliable stars, recently shared insights about his past interest in WWE and the discussions he had with them. Since joining AEW in May 2023, Fletcher has reinvented himself, having previously held the TNT Championship. On the podcast Insight with Chris Van Vliet, he revealed that before signing with AEW, he had talks with WWE, including an official Zoom conference call alongside his tag partner Mark Davis, then known as the Australian Open. However, Fletcher explained that the WWE offer didn’t feel right at the time, and although negotiations were not far off, AEW turned out to be the best fit for him and Davis. Presently, Fletcher is competing in the Continental Classic Tournament as part of the Gold League and recently faced Mike Bailey on the December 10 episode of Dynamite, “Winter is Coming,” where he was defeated in a tournament match.

Fan Take: This revelation highlights AEW’s growing appeal as a top wrestling promotion, attracting talents who have options beyond WWE. For AEW fans, it reinforces the company’s role in shaping current wrestling narratives and elevating performers who might have otherwise taken a different path, ultimately benefiting the sport with fresh, competitive storytelling.
