FTR Successfully Retains AEW World Tag Team Titles at Holiday Bash Showdown

2 Min Read

FTR successfully defended their AEW World Tag Team Championships by defeating Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn of the Bang Bang Gang in the main event of the “AEW Collision” segment during the Holiday Bash Special on Wednesday. Robinson and Gunn were challenging for the titles, having been the last team to beat Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler before they claimed the championships at Full Gear.

The match began with Gunn and Wheeler in the ring, as the Bam Bam Gang showed why they had previously defeated the champions, with Robinson expertly taking down both FTR members with a flying crossbody. However, FTR regained momentum after the commercial break. Gunn attempted to turn the tide with a sleeper hold on Harwood, but Wheeler made a timely tag. Robinson fought back, taking down both champions and almost pinning Harwood with a rollup.

During the match, Stokely Hathaway tried to interfere by throwing powder, but Robinson accidentally struck Wheeler instead, incapacitating them both. Wheeler retaliated by sending Gunn over the barricade and into the timekeeper’s area, but Gunn quickly recovered and eliminated Wheeler before FTR could execute their signature shutter machine move. Robinson then pinned Harwood, seemingly winning the titles for Bam Bam Gang, but Harwood cleverly stopped the referee’s count by grabbing the bottom rope.

This distraction gave FTR the opportunity to trap Robinson in a figure four leglock. Wheeler supported the move with a well-placed knee stomp, and Harwood reapplied the figure four, forcing Robinson to submit.

Fan Take: This victory solidifies FTR’s dominance as AEW World Tag Team Champions and keeps their legacy strong heading into the new year. For AEW fans, this sets the stage for even bigger rivalries and high-stakes tag team action that could elevate the sport further.
