Bocchi Takes Center Stage as AEW’s Defining Word

Outside of the show “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” the term “botch” usually carries a negative meaning in the wrestling industry. However, for Matt Hardy, mistakes represent chances to improve. While everyone makes errors, this term is mostly used within AEW and less so elsewhere. Hardy, an 11-time WWE/NXT Tag Team Champion, clarifies this perspective.

Hardy commented on a podcast, “I think that’s AEW’s word. The Young Bucks really embrace it… It reflects the mindset of, ‘Wow, that was a mistake…’ which is something you rarely hear in WWE.”

Matt Hardy joined WWE and TNA in early 2020, stayed for four years, and then returned to TNA for a second stint. When WWE and TNA started their partnership earlier this year, Matt and his brother Jeff appeared frequently through the collaboration and also secured the WWE NXT tag team titles. The Hardys recently won the TNA Tag Team Championship for the fourth time at Slammiversary in July. Their current title reign spans 538 days, ranking second only to the Latin American Exchange’s 662-day reign.

Fan Take: This insight into AEW’s culture of viewing mistakes as growth opportunities highlights a unique mindset that fosters innovation and resilience. For AEW fans, it signals a progressive approach that could lead to more daring and dynamic performances, ultimately enriching the sport’s evolution.
