Nick Nemeth Draws Parallels Between WWE NXT and TNA Partnership Across Different Regions

2 Min Read

Before Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan revolutionized professional wrestling with WWE, the wrestling world operated through territories where wrestlers traveled across various promotions in the U.S. without exclusive contracts. With WWE’s new agreement with TNA allowing wrestlers to compete in both brands, Nick Nemeth feels this setup revives the old regional wrestling atmosphere.

“The territory system vanished 40 to 50 years ago, but now wrestlers can move between different companies, rosters, and independent shows, experiencing diverse crowds and learning from new people,” Nemeth shared during an interview with KVIA ABC-7.

He also pointed out that since WWE reduced its schedule from five shows a week to one or two due to COVID-19, his time to mentor emerging wrestlers has become limited. “With this crossover between NXT and TNA, you never know which wrestlers will appear on ‘Impact’ or ‘NXT’ on Tuesdays—they create dream matchups you wouldn’t normally see,” Nemeth added.

What Nemeth values most in the WWE-TNA partnership is the opportunity to support and mentor young talent. He believes the collaboration has been successful so far and expects it to improve even more in the future.

Fan Take: This partnership is a refreshing throwback to wrestling’s earlier days, which can bring fresh excitement and unpredictability to fans. It also promises greater opportunities for up-and-coming wrestlers to gain exposure and experience, benefiting the sport as a whole.
