Jim Ross Addresses Racism Claims Made by D. Von Dudley: A Candid Response

3 Min Read

D-Von Dudley recently revealed in an interview that Jim Ross treated him differently during their time in WWE and mentioned something unforgettable that Ross said. Jim Ross addressed these claims on his podcast, Grillin’ with JR.

The controversy surfaced when D-Von Dudley appeared on a TV show in October 2025 called duke loves raslin, where he identified Jim Ross as a key figure involved in a widely known story about racist comments made during the Attitude Era. D-Von stated that there were several witnesses to the incident and that he had forgiven Ross but admitted it still left an impact on him. During the interview, D-Von acknowledged, "Did I come out and say ten-gallon hat? Yes. Did Mayvin let the cat out of the bag? Yes. Was it JR? Yes, I had issues with JR at the time."

Jim Ross responded by firmly denying these claims, expressing both disbelief and surprise. He said, "That’s so ridiculous it’s not even worth responding to. I like D-Von. I still like him. I hired him and Bubba, and I thought I booked them well. They made money and were given the opportunity to shine. Those TLC matches were masterpieces that will be remembered forever. The Dudleys played a huge role in that."

Ross also shared how shocked he was by the allegations, stating, "I don’t remember ever making such comments to D-Von. I’ve always respected him and his work. I love the Dudley tag team. I was completely caught off guard by these claims. I don’t know why he made them up—maybe it was for attention. I thought D-Von’s life after wrestling wasn’t as positive as Bubba’s, who became a successful broadcaster and continues to work. But I never said those things, and I wish the situation never came up. People can believe what they want, and I’m not mad at D-Von; I’m just puzzled by why he brought it up."
