WWE Grapples with More Setbacks as Another Star Faces Shoulder Injury

3 Min Read

WWE begins the new year facing challenges as three key wrestlers suffer shoulder injuries, with Sheamus being the newest addition to the injury list. The Celtic Warrior will be sidelined for several months, marking a significant setback for both the athlete and the company.

Sheamus, who has battled numerous injuries over recent years—including a severe neck injury that nearly ended his career—is currently out due to a shoulder injury, arriving just before the Road to WrestleMania 42. According to PWInsider, the 47-year-old underwent successful surgery Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama. His last match was alongside John Cena at WWE RAW in Madison Square Garden in November. Sheamus’ wife, Isabella Revilla Farrelly, confirmed his treatment by sharing a photo on Instagram of him in a sling, humorously recounting their unexpected trip from iconic European landmarks to a surgery center in Alabama.

This injury adds to the woes of other WWE stars like Dominik Mysterio, who recently dealt with a shoulder problem that appears not to require surgery and is expected to recover in time for Royal Rumble Week starting January 31. Meanwhile, Penta returned to WWE RAW after an injury sustained during the Last Time Is Now tournament, and Seth Rollins remains sidelined after a significant injury at Crown Jewel in October, putting his WrestleMania participation in doubt.

Despite these setbacks, Sheamus is not considering retirement. A seasoned and beloved figure in WWE, he told Chris Van Vliet on Insight that he plans to continue wrestling until he physically cannot, having recently signed a new five-year contract that will carry him into his early 50s. With an impressive WWE legacy as a four-time world champion and Royal Rumble winner, Sheamus remains committed to his career.

Fan Take: Sheamus’ injury is a tough blow for WWE fans who admire his resilience and skill, but his determination to return keeps hope alive. This situation underscores the physical demands of wrestling and makes upcoming events like WrestleMania even more unpredictable and exciting.
