Several top talents from WWE NXT have officially joined the SmackDown roster following the expansion of the show to a three-hour format. In recent weeks, many NXT stars have appeared on WWE’s main roster as “free agents,” with expectations they would soon sign with either Raw or SmackDown.
Last week, former NXT Champion Trick Williams was seen in a backstage segment with Cody Rhodes and Nick Aldis on SmackDown and even made an appearance on Raw this week. Tonight, Trick Williams confirmed his commitment to SmackDown by interrupting Sami Zayn’s match and declaring his goal to become the world champion. Later in the show, he had a backstage confrontation with Rey Fenix, who tried to teach him a lesson, but Nick Aldis announced that Trick’s official SmackDown debut match will be against Rey Fenix next week.
Trick Williams wasn’t the only NXT star making waves—Jordynne Grace also appeared in a backstage segment aiming to join the SmackDown brand. Additionally, Matt Cardona made his WWE return on tonight’s SmackDown, officially joining the roster.
Fan Take: This influx of fresh talent from NXT to SmackDown breathes new life into WWE’s main roster, promising exciting matchups and fresh storylines. For fans, it signals a reinvigorated SmackDown that could transform the landscape of WWE and elevate the sport to new heights.
