WWE SmackDown Results (1/16/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The announcers are Michael Cole and Corey Graves.
A look back at last week’s Smackdown.
Randy Orton is shown arriving at the arena, followed by Damian Priest, Solo Sicore, and Matt Cardona arriving at the arena.
Drew McIntyre appears with a special bagpipe introduction.

He made his way to the ring and soaked in chants of “Oh, Drew McIntyre” before grabbing the microphone. “I prayed for this to happen, and it happened.” Drew tells them to get things started. He says the last few years in England have been tough, but if there’s anyone who can shoulder that burden, it’s him. He admitted that the love he’s gotten since winning has been amazing, and then pissed off the crowd.
He tells them bluntly, “You’re shit.” He says there was no one there when he was fired. No one cared when Roman Reigns fucked him over. When CM Punk was having trouble, fans were rooting for Roman and chanting YEET. There was no hashtag support when Cody and the referee sacrificed him. He said 99% of the fans only showed up after the fact.
Drew says the only person he has to thank is himself. He thanked himself and told the crowd they should shout “Thank you, Drew.” And he says there’s one person he needs to talk to, and that’s a former champion. He stops and says the word “ex” cuts like a knife every time.
Drew said he knows Cody is preparing to request a rematch, but he made sure there is a no-rematch clause in his contract. Cody has to go back. He says the “vanilla QB1 era” is over and now everyone has to deal with the dangerous and unpredictable Drew McIntyre era.
Randy Orton’s music hits. Drew asks Randy if he can come celebrate. Randy looks around and tells Drew, and everyone in London, that they don’t like each other at all. He says he wasn’t there to celebrate, but to remind Drew that he had a chance to kick his head off the announce table a few months ago and didn’t do it. Randy says if he has the opportunity to give back, he won’t hesitate. He said he had beaten Drew for the title before and would do it again thanks to the three most dangerous letters: R…K…O.
Jacob Fatu’s music hits and he heads to the ring. Drew tells Fatu to slow down, but Fatu punches Drew and they brawl on the floor. Fatu sends Drew into the announce table, but Drew fights back and throws Fatu into the ring post. Drew tries to climb over the barricade but Fatu stops him and Drew hits an elbow but Fatu comes closer.
Then The Miz sneaks up from behind and drops Drew with a Skull Crushing Finale.
#1 Candidate Qualification: Randy Orton vs. The Miz
The match has already begun and Miz takes control, landing punches and a DDT for a near fall. Randy went to the floor and secretly put his thumbs in his eyes. Orton goes for a back body drop driver, but Miz gets back up and drops Orton onto the announce table.
Back in the ring, Miz kicks Orton and follows up with punches, but Orton fights back and takes over. Miz sends Orton to the ropes and goes for an Awesome clothesline, but Orton counters with a clothesline of his own and hits another one. Orton avoids a shot and hits a powerslam on Miz. Orton goes for the IEDDT but Miz escapes to the floor. Orton kicks him and drives him into the announce table with a back body drop driver. He does it again and when the crowd still wants more, Orton delivers the third one.
Orton rolls Miz into the ring, stops him on the apron, then hits an IEDDT. Randy drops to the mat and starts to set up, but Miz suddenly counters with a Skull Crushing Finale for a near fall. Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale again, but Orton counters with a snapmare. Miz avoids an RKO and nearly steals him with a rollup. Orton quickly recovers and catches Miz with an RKO for a three count.
Winner: Randy Orton
Drew heads to the back, hugging the title belt. Ilya Dragunov stops him and says he’s glad to finally talk to him face to face. Elijah says he intends to beat Sami and get one step closer to the title, adding that the reason he won the gold medal on his first day back was because he doesn’t fight like a sane man. Drew says he doesn’t care because he’s being chased by a madman right now. He tells Elijah that if he wins, he’ll meet him at the Rumble. Drew added that Jacob’s teeth didn’t get knocked out, but Elijah’s would.
Go commercial.
