AEW Dynamite Results (January 21, 2026): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show begins with the commentators welcoming us and Taz heading to the commentary desk.

Tony Schiavone gets in the ring and introduces AEW World Champion MJF. MJF’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. MJF begins by telling Schiavone to shut his triple-jawed mouth and disrespecting the fans in attendance. MJF then hypes himself up. MJF then gloats about becoming the AEW World Champion. And MJF said winning the AEW World Title cost him more than most fans will ever earn in a lifetime. MJF then calls himself a professional wrestler.

Brody King’s music then plays and he interrupts MJF. King started talking about wanting to hurt MJF after what he did to Bandido last week. King then says he wants to rip MJF’s spine out but won’t do it because MJF is just a freak. In response, King talks about not messing with MJF because it would cost him what he really wants, which is MJF and a title shot now and tonight, and the chants return.

MJF suggests that he think twice before saying no because he’s scared of King. The fans then bark along with King, and MJF says it reminds him of the phrase, “They all bark, but they don’t bite.” MJF further stated that King, who had only faced “tomato cans, jabronis, and jobbers,” had no grounds to challenge him, and told King that he needed to win against elite talent before stepping up to become champion or he would be in trouble. King then managed to intimidate MJF, claiming that he had a lot to deal with tonight before leaving the ring, forcing him to change direction.

Before heading backstage, we cut to a video package highlighting last week’s Maximum Carnage. Adam Page and Jetspeed from “Hangman” then appear in a backstage segment. All three players are excited for their respective matches. Page said that if Mike Bailey can stick to his fast pace and strong suit, he can beat Samoa Joe.

Samoa Joe then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night, followed by Mike Bayley.

Single match: Opps’ Samoa Joe vs. Jet Speed’s “Speedball” Mike Bailey

The match starts with both men locked up and Joe drives Bayley into the corner. Bayley then fights back and takes Joe out of the game with a flurry of hits before using her speed to send Joe flying out of bounds, but Joe intercepts the dive with a hard chop that knocks Bayley down hard. Bayley struggles as Joe stands up, but Bayley reverses and hits the Asai Moonsault. He then brings Joe back into the ring as Ops comes down the ramp. Bayley then slipped into the ring with little regard for them, but Joe sent him over the top rope to the floor, distracting the referee. Joe then continues his attack, but Bayley is quickly sent off.

Joe was in control until Bayley ducked him in the corner and hit a dropkick for a two count. Joe fights back, but Bayley goes up top and goes for the Shooting Star Press, but gets another kick, only to get a near fall when Joe kicks out. Joe then rolls to the apron for a breather, but Bayley fights out before sweeping her leg out from under Joe before coming out of a suplex. Joe then lands on the apron, but avoids a knee drop from Bayley and returns to the ring. Shibata has an opening to beat Bayley with a suplex on the apron as the referee checks on him, then brings him back into the ring for more punishment from Joe.

Joe then continues to squeeze Bayley, concentrating on her legs while mocking her. Joe then hits a few more kicks and after Bayley checks in with the ref, Joe lands a leghook and Bayley reaches the ropes for a break. Bayley then struggles to stand up as Joe chases after her, but Bayley hits Joe with a crane kick. Then Bayley hits a shooting star knee drop for a two count. Bayley is backed into the corner and hits a roundhouse kick. Hook then distracts Bayley long enough to stop the Ultima Weapon, but counters the Coquina Clutch for a near fall. They then go back to the top, but this time Shibata is distracted as the referee is handling the hook, which allows Joe to hit the Muscle Buster for the win.

The winner of the singles match is Samoa Joe from The Ops!

After the game, Joe celebrates as the commentary hypes the lineup for tonight’s show.

We then head to the back where we find MJF keeping a close eye on Joe’s win.

The Death Riders then leave through the crowd for the night’s next match. Hexero, Lance Archer, and Rocky Romero then escape, only for the Death Riders to chase them, and a street fight begins.

Street fight: Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia) vs. Don Callis Family (Hexero, Rocky “Azkar” Romero, “Murderhawk Monster” Lance Archer)

The match begins with everyone brawling, and the fight spills over into the crowd. We then see a split screen of Garcia lying on the hexero while Moxley confronts Archer. Yuta then gets taken down by Romero, but Garcia gives chase to no avail as Moxley and Archer return to the ring. Archer then peppered Moxley with punches in the corner, with Yuta and Garcia also joining in the attack. Archer then began to fight back, only to be sent over the top rope and out of bounds. Yuta then chases him outside, but Archer sends him flying into the timekeeper table and chokeslams him. Moxley then blindsides Archer, but is sent to the barricade when the Don Callis Family takes control.

Romero and Hexero double team Garcia. Members of the Don Callis family then name-drop Moxley as punishment in the ring. Hexero then applies an ankle lock on Moxley. Archer then bites Moxley. Hexero then locks Moxley in a submission and Romero kicks Moxley down. Garcia comes in, but Hexero grabs his ankle. Garcia is then placed inside a trash can. Romero and Hexero then hit Garcia with a few dropkicks. Members of the Don Callis family then turn their attention back to Moxley. Moxley then throws a trash can at Hexero. Moxley then briefly attacks Archer, but Archer knocks Moxley down.

Marina Shafir then enters the ring and confronts Archer. Archer then attempts a chokeslam on Shafir, but Shafir applies an armbar. Shafir then grabs Archer’s leg and Moxley hits a cutter. Moxley then charges and Archer falls onto a table in the corner, but Archer fights back and spins Moxley around before driving him into the table with a running powerslam. After some exchanges, Yuta and Garcia apply submission moves on Hexero and Romero. Moxley then hits a double DDT on Romero and Hexero. Moxley then sets up a table with barbed wire and glass. Moxley then chokeslams Archer. Archer goes for a pinfall, but Yuta and Garcia stop him.

After a scuffle, Archer attempts to chokeslam Utah from the entrance ramp, but PAC escapes on crutches and attacks Archer. Castagnoli joins in and defeats Archer. Garcia then applies the Dragon Tamer on Romero as Moxley stomps on him. Garcia then twisted in a submission, resulting in Romero passing out, and the referee called for the bell.

Street Fight Winners, Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Yuta Wheeler, Daniel Garcia)!

After the match, the Death Riders leave the ring, and Shafir tells Callis, “Tell my son to come find me,” before slipping out of the crowd, pointing the microphone at Moxley.

Commentary then hypes up the next match of the night, which will see FTR take on Alec Price and Jordan Oliver.

Triangle of Madness is then seen in a backstage segment. Thecla tells Kris Statlander that she will give the champion one week to pretend that Toxic Spider is being threatened before qualifying for next week’s Women’s World Championship. The rest of the Triangle of Madness talk to Willow Nightingale as Julia Hart wants to challenge for the TBS title on Collision that week. Thecla then says that if you want to taste the poison, you can drown in it. She then spits as the show progresses.

Later, as Alec Price and Jordan Oliver descend into the ring for the next match of the night, Big Stoke grabs a microphone and sends a message to Mark Davis and Jake Doyle, forcing Price and Oliver into a corner. FTR then goes down to the ring.

Non-title match: AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax the Ax Harwood) vs Alec Price & Jordan Oliver

The match begins with Wheeler and Price, with Wheeler quickly taking control of the match before Price returns with a cradle for a two count. Wheeler wasn’t happy with this and sent Oliver into the corner for a strike of his own. Oliver is then tagged in and FTR is sent outside the ring for a dive on his opponent. FTR then retreats to the other side, but this allows Price to tag back in.

Price and Oliver then take him out of the match before Harwood teams up to go after him, allowing Oliver to take a near fall. Harwood then hits Oliver with a right hand before knocking Price down and sending Jordan into the corner. After the match, FTR celebrates their victory.

Next, head to the back where Chris Statlaender and Babes of Wrath are showing their reactions to Triangle of Madness. Statlander intends to accept Thekla’s challenge, and Nightingale is scheduled to face Hart to defend the TBS title. Harley Cameron also confirmed that she will be participating. And she said they have all the titles Triangle wants.

A match for the TBS title is then confirmed on Collision this Saturday, followed by a defense of the Women’s World Championship on next week’s Dynamite.

Kenny Omega then makes his way down to the ring for his next match of the night before Don Callis and Josh Alexander blindside him. Alexander continues to attack while Caris goes on commentary, but Omega turns around and sends Alexander into the barricade and ring, and the match begins.

Single match: “Best Bout Machine” Kenny Omega vs. Don Callis Family’s “Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander

The match begins with Omega continuing to task Alexander. Omega runs for a kick and Alexander stands on the apron, but Alexander catches him with a suplex and goes to the apron. Alexander then slammed Omega into the hardest part of the ring to regain control of the match. Alexander then continues to lay in Omega for a cover, but Omega puts his foot on the ropes and breaks the pin. Alexander then puts Omega up top and then brings Omega down hard for a two count. Omega then escaped from the ring with Alexander following close behind, and the match was stopped where Alexander had previously removed his pads. Omega then hits a snapdragon suplex, knocking Alexander into the concrete.

Omega then continued his attack before bringing Alexander back into the ring and going up top to hit a missile dropkick and modified neckbreaker to get his own two count. Omega then goes for the V-Trigger, but Alexander intercepts him and suplexes him to the floor. Callis stares at Omega, but as Omega slowly stands up, the referee confronts him. Alexander then chases him and they both trade strikes.

Omega then slammed Alexander into the announce desk and Callis tackled him again, only to be chased away into the crowd by Omega. Omega returns to the ring and Caris clears, but Alexander intercepts him with an ankle lock and slams him into the ring apron before returning to the ring from the other side. Omega then struggles to get back on the ring apron, but Alexander follows up and ends up hitting a running crossbody into the back of Omega, knocking him to the floor. He then returns Omega to the ring before checking on Callis, but is caught by V-Trigger when he returns. Omega gets a 2 count and hits the One-Winged Angel for the win.

The single match winner is “The Best Bout Machine” Kenny Omega!

After the match, Omega celebrates his victory as MJF watches from the back. Omega then asked for a microphone as “Uncle Don” and spoke about what Callis had done to him in recent months, before saying in front of his new home in Orlando, “I’ve never felt better.” Omega then says that there is no one in Don’s family who can defeat him and prevent him from regaining the world title. Omega wants to cover Don’s ears, but he has to say goodbye, so goodnight Mwah and goodbye Bang. As Omega ascends the ramp, his music blares.

Next, we will explain the Maximum Carnage match between MJF and Bandido for the AEW World Championship using Taz’s techniques. Taz focuses on MJF targeting Bandido’s shoulders and neck for the win thanks to a rubel lock.

Megan Bain and Penelope Ford then go down to the ring for the next match of the night, followed by Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa.

Tag match: “The Megasus” Megan Bain & Penelope Ford vs. Timeless Love Bombs (“Timeless” Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa)

The winners of the tag team match are “The Megasus” Megan Bain and Penelope Ford!

After the match, Shafir flipped out at the crowd. Our commentary looks ahead to Saturday’s Collision and next week’s big match on Dynamite.

Swerve Strickland then descended into the ring for the main event of the night, and the commentary acknowledged the death of the man known as The Proffit, who was the producer of Strickland’s new previous theme. MJF then appeared in the stands and watched as Kevin Knight made his way down to the ring to start this match.

Single match: Swerve Strickland vs. “The Jet” Kevin Knight of Jetspeed

The match begins with both men locked up, with Strickland taking control as he sends Knight into the corner. Strickland then continues to attack, but Knight responds by taking Strickland to the mat. Strickland then responds with a single leg before hitting the ropes, but Knight drops Strickland with an armdrag and Strickland breaks free before transitioning into an armbar. Strickland then leaves the ring to take a breather, but Knight catches him with a crossbody and knocks Strickland to the floor. Knight then brought Strickland back into the ring and taunted Strickland by hitting him with a frog splash, a crossbody, and then a griddle. Strickland then fires back with a chop, sending Knight flying out of bounds.

Strickland then follows Knight out of the ring, but receives a missile dropkick from Knight as MJF looks on. Strickland then takes Knight down hard and regains control, then griddies and fakes a free throw. He then chases after the knight’s legs before the knight can stand up. Strickland then calls for Knight to try strikes, and Knight complies and brings Strickland to the canvas. Strickland hits the ropes and gets to his feet, but a jumping clothesline from Knight sends him back hard. Strickland then avoids a splash from Knight and takes him down with a flatliner, but Knight avoids a house call and hits a splash and cover. MJF still watches as Strickland gets back to his feet and sends Knight into the corner to stand him on the top turnbuckle. The two then fight and then Knight goes for a sunset flip powerbomb and Strickland hits it after he shoots first.

Knight covers from a DDT but Champion Strickland kicks out. The match then proceeds to the apron where Strickland takes Knight down with a Death Valley Driver into the hardest part of the ring. Strickland then took Knight to the barricade, looked for a piledriver and hit it, and Knight ended up on the floor. Strickland then pauses briefly on his way back into the ring as the referee begins counting, and after the count reaches nine, Knight jumps into the ring with applause from Strickland on the turnbuckle. He then drops a 450 splash onto Knight and hits a Dragon Sleeper on Knight who is trying his best to get out of the hold. Strickland then takes Knight to the corner and they both reach a vertical base.

The two then fight on the top turnbuckle, with Knight taking Strickland down with a hurricanrana. Coast-to-coast dropkick, Knight hits a UFO splash before getting back to his feet, and Strickland gets his foot on the ropes for the pin before going for a cover. Knight gets up and makes a house call to Strickland, hoisting him onto his shoulders before Strickland can fight back. Both men hit the ropes with pump kicks, but Strickland hits a house call on Knight, followed by a verte breaker. Then he puts on big pressure to win.

Single match winner, Swerve Strickland!

After the match, a disgruntled MJF can be seen watching from the stands as Strickland celebrates his victory and the show ends.
