Samoa Joe Suffers Injury in Training, AEW Dynamite Commentary Reveals No Medical Treatment Given

Former AEW World Champion and current AEW World Trios Champion Samoa Joe is currently not cleared to compete due to a training injury, which caused him to miss the latest episode of “AEW Dynamite.” During commentary for the opening match between Kenny Omega and Rocky Romero, Excalibur revealed that Joe sustained the injury while training.

Joe recently secured a win over “Speedball” Mike Bailey on the January 21 edition of “Dynamite.” Before that, he and his partners Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata lost the AEW World Trios Championship to Bayley, Kevin Knight, and “Hangman” Adam Page on “AEW Collision,” after Hobbs left the faction post-taping. Their 273-day title reign was notably long. Subsequently, Joe was stripped of that title by MJF during a four-way match at World’s End featuring Page and Swerve Strickland, ending 2025 without capturing a singles championship. Joe’s second run as Trios Champion lasted 35 days, and recently, he has been actively trying to reclaim the title amid a competitive main event scene involving Page, Strickland, and Omega.

Fan Take: Samoa Joe’s injury is a significant blow to AEW fans hoping to see him continue his momentum in the main event scene. His absence could shake up the current title picture, opening doors for fresh rivalries and new stars to emerge in AEW’s competitive landscape.
