Ricochet Drops AEW Dynamite Domestic Title in Shocking Turn of Events

2 Min Read

Ricochet’s first AEW National Championship reign will extend past the 75-day mark. On Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite in Las Vegas, Ricochet defended his title against “Jungle” Jack Perry. Despite Perry’s aggressive start and attempts to wear him down, Ricochet managed to hold strong. During the match, the faction Gates of Agony tried to intervene to save Ricochet from a submission hold, but they were quickly stopped by Perry’s allies, the Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson. The Bucks then gained control as both teams clashed in a three-way tag match to determine the next challengers for the tag team titles. Taking advantage of the distraction, Ricochet struck Perry’s head against the national title belt and secured the pinfall victory.

Ricochet has held the newly established championship since winning it at the Casino Gauntlet Match last November. Wednesday’s defense marked his seventh successful title defense across AEW, ROH, CMLL, and Big Time Wrestling. Notably, Ricochet, a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, began his tenure with WWE in 2024 after almost seven years with AEW.

Fan Take: This victory solidifies Ricochet’s status as a fighting champion and showcases AEW’s commitment to elevating the National Title as a prestigious prize. For fans, it promises more high-caliber matches and exciting storylines, which continue to push the boundaries and growth of professional wrestling.
