AEW is set to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the second Grand Slam event in Sydney, Australia, on February 14th. It has been announced that Jon Moxley will make his inaugural defense of the AEW Continental Championship at the show. Moxley will face Konosuke Takeshita, a member of the Don Callis Family who recently secured a pinfall victory over them during a trios match against the Death Riders in Las Vegas.

Since claiming the AEW Continental Championship at the 2025 Continental Classic Tournament Finals, Moxley has defeated contenders Josh Alexander, Shelton Benjamin, and Ace Austin in eliminator matches. Takeshita stands out as one of only two wrestlers to have previously beaten Moxley in the Continental Classic, giving him confidence heading into this championship bout. The two competitors have a history of victories over each other, including Moxley’s win over Takeshita in an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Eliminator at AEW Double or Nothing in May 2024, leaving fans eager to see who will come out on top in Australia.

Additionally, the Death Riders will be well represented at the event, with Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta joining forces in a mixed tornado tag team match against “Timeless” Toni Storm and “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy. The losing team will face the unique consequence of having their heads shaved during the match. Meanwhile, the future contender for the AEW Men’s World Championship will be decided as Andrade El Idro and Hangman Page compete in a number one contender’s match, with the winner earning a title shot at the Revolution pay-per-view scheduled for March 15th.
