Charlotte Flair Opens Up on the Potential for a Women’s Main Event at WWE WrestleMania 42

2 Min Read

Charlotte Flair recently spoke about the chance of a women’s match headlining WWE WrestleMania 42. Historically, two women’s bouts have been featured as main events at WrestleMania: the triple threat between Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35, and the championship clash between Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 37.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Flair shared her thoughts on the prospect of a women’s main event at this year’s WrestleMania in Las Vegas. She expressed hope for it, noting that with the Elimination Chamber coming up, she could be aiming for the tag team, RAW, or SmackDown titles. Flair emphasized that the main event spot should be earned based on the strength of the storyline, rather than gender, stating, “I think a woman can be the main event any year. It’s about who has the best story. For me, I don’t think someone should be given a main event spot just because they’re male or female. I think it’s about who has the best story.”

Charlotte Flair is set to participate as the Iron Woman in the 2026 Women’s Royal Rumble and currently teams up with Alexa Bliss on SmackDown.

Fan Take: This update is significant as it highlights the ongoing shift toward equal opportunities for women in WWE, showcasing that main event status is becoming a storyline-driven meritocracy rather than a gender-based decision. If women headline more high-profile events like WrestleMania, it could redefine the sport’s future by elevating female talent to the same level of prominence as their male counterparts.
