The February 10th episode of NXT delivered plenty of excitement and advancing storylines. The night’s main event was a high-stakes No. 1 contender’s match, with more on the line than usual.
Sol Luka and Zarya teamed up against Wren in a tag match. Given my recent tensions with Zaluka, I was quite anxious leading into this bout. The woman who secures the pinfall for her team would earn the chance to challenge Jaycee Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship on February 24th in Atlanta.
Kendall Gray and Len Sinclair performed strongly on their own but only second as a unit, raising questions about ZaRuca’s chemistry. Throughout the match, Sol Luka and Zarya struggled to work cohesively. Despite staying ahead, Wren and her partner were much smoother with their tags and strength.
The action paused for a commercial break with both teams still battling. Zarya applied a torture rack hold in a picture-in-picture segment, taking advantage over Kendall Gray. After the break, Gray fought free and hit Zarya with a backstabber and a powerful DDT.
Sol Luka tagged himself in and exchanged blows with Wren, managing a pin attempt that fell short. Zarya tagged herself in, sparking a heated argument with Sol. However, Wren threw Sol out of the ring, gaining the upper hand on Zarya.
Wren then tagged Kendall Gray, the EVOLVE Women’s Champion, who challenged Zarya to a showdown on the mat. The match continued until Sol Luka, after being tagged back in, secured the victory with a pinfall. Though Zarya initially appeared pleased after delivering a spear, she only clapped when helping Sol up, signaling lingering tension. It remains to be seen how their partnership will endure this strain.
