WWE SmackDown Results (3/6/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show begins with a video package recapping last weekend’s WWE Elimination Chamber PLE.

Randy Orton’s music then hits and the commentators welcome us to the show as Randy makes his way down to the ring. Randy then performs to the crowd before grabbing the microphone and begins by welcoming everyone to SmackDown. Then Randy says that he arrived at the venue earlier than scheduled today. Then Randy said it was this morning and the WrestleMania signs were already up. Randy then says that he was looking at that sign all day while he was doing his job. Then Randy says he’s a numbers guy and knows how many WrestleManias he’s been to, and Randy says he’s been to 20 WrestleManias. Then Randy says he’s only been to the main event twice. Randy then says it doesn’t matter who you are, how much you win, or what record you have, there’s no guarantee you’ll go to WrestleMania, much less the main event show.

Then Randy said he was here. Randy then says he can say he will be back in the main event of WrestleMania. Then Randy says he was never the guy who would say he was the best in the ring. Randy then said that he lets his co-workers talk, and that many of them put him in that category. Randy then talks about the men he looked up to growing up, like Ric Flair, The Undertaker, and Harley Race. And Randy said JBL would describe him as what you get when you build a wrestler from the ground up. And Randy said when you look at the locker room, when you look at the guys in the same locker room, he’s proud that he’s still doing this after so much time and he thinks people still think he’s still at the top and in the position he’s in.

Randy then says that this opportunity was not given to him, and that he was the one who got this villain’s son. And when it comes to the main event of WrestleMania, Randy said he doesn’t know who his opponent will be, but he will find out within the next few hours. Then Randy said he felt differently about the two possibilities. Then Randy says it could be Drew McIntyre or it could be Cody Rhodes. Randy then says that it doesn’t matter who the other person is, he won’t leave Las Vegas empty-handed. Randy then said he was going to Las Vegas with a chip on his shoulder and the WWE Championship on his hip. Then Randy says he’s going to accomplish that in a certain way. Then Randy uses the most dangerous three letters in sports entertainment RKO and says:

The lights then go out and Trick Williams appears on stage. Trick says he has finally arrived. Trick then says that he has voices in his head too. Trick then says that he says he has to hold the bone and pick it. Trick then says that he should be in the main event of WrestleMania to win the title. Trick then says that he has another problem with Randy. Then Trick said that you came out on Saturday and came to his room. Trick then says you stood on tiptoe and said you weren’t 65 years old. Trick then says he is in Randy’s ring and Randy wants to be measured. Trick then mentioned his shoes and Randy hit Trick with an RKO.

Next, watch Carmelo Hayes talk to Nick Aldis. Nick says Hayes is doing a great job as champion. Nick said he receives requests from all over the world and some of them are extraordinary. Hayes then says he’ll wait until he gets in the ring to find out.

Carmelo Hayes then comes down to the ring for the first match of the night.

WWE United States Championship Open Challenge Match: Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Dr. Wagner’s Son

The match started with Wagner hitting a dropkick and a cannonball. Wagner then kicks Hayes to the floor and he hits a Swanton off the apron. Then, back in the ring, Wagner gets a near fall. Then Wagner hits a slam and goes up top. Wagner then hits a missile dropkick for a nearfall. Wagner goes for another slam, but Hayes escapes and hits a dropkick. Hayes hits another kick and Wagner blocks a suplex. Hayes then does the same. Hayes then hits an inside cradle for a near fall. Wagner then hits Hayes with a kick, but Hayes hits him with a series of kicks to the back of the leg. Hayes then drives Wagner into the ropes and Hayes hits a springboard leg drop. Hayes then goes up top and hits a crossbody to Wagner on the floor.

Hayes then brings Wagner back into the ring. Hayes then gets a near fall. Wagner then sent Hayes flying into the air and heading to the mat first. Wagner then throws a kick, but it results in a near fall. Wagner then hits some chops and snaps the mare, followed by a chop to the back of the head. Wagner then hits a back senton for a near fall. Hayes then hits a kick to the leg and hits a springboard DDT for a near fall. Hayes then hits a chop. Wagner then hits a shoulder in the corner followed by a chop. They then go to the turnbuckle and Hayes hits a headbutt. Wagner then goes to the apron and headbutts Hayes. Wagner then hits a superplex for a near fall.

They then exchange forearms and Wagner hits a headbutt. Hayes then hits a kick and both men go down. Hayes then hits a springboard clothesline. Hayes then hits a series of chops and hits La Mistica for a near fall. Hayes then goes for the Fast 48, but Wagner blocks it and hits a powerbomb for a nearfall. Then Wagner removes his elbow pad and Hayes throws a kick. Wagner then hits a disc elbow and Hayes hits a fast 48 as Wagner comes off the turnbuckle. Hayes then gets a near fall. Hayes then goes up top with a nothing but net, but misses. Hayes then rolled, and Wagner stepped in and hit a knee in the corner, followed by a powerbomb for a near fall. Wagner then missed a moonsault and Hayes hit a Nothing But Net for the win.

Open Challenge Match winner and current WWE United States Champion Carmelo Hayes!

After the game, Hayes and Wagner shook hands.

Then we head to the back and we have Kathy Kelly and Ilya Dragunov. Elijah tells Cassie that if he keeps losing, he doesn’t want to be anyone else and won’t accept the title match. Elijah then tells Cassie what he learned from his mother, the greatest warrior he has ever known. Illya then says that he has made sacrifices and carried the weight of the entire world on his shoulders. Ilya then said that it meant a lot to him that people called him a warrior. Illya then says that he will wait until he can become that warrior again. The Miz then appears and says that back then he was taught to always say “yes”. Miz then says that Hayes offered him a title match, but Elijah turned him down. Kit Wilson then appears and tells Elijah that his masculinity is toxic. Ilya then says that fighting is always the answer and leaves. Miz then tells Kit that he got this and he leaves.

Next we see Nick Aldis and Damien Priest. Priest says he heard there’s a match tonight and R-Truth shows up. Truth tells Priest that he is in dire straits and that they are both in trouble. Aldis then tells him that they are both participating in a tag team chaos match. Priest then says that winning the tag team titles is pretty good for him and thanks him. They then leave and Drew McIntyre shows up. Drew tells Aldis he had a chance to cool down. Drew then says that he is the face of the brand and that they made an agreement when he won the title that they would not have a rematch unless Cody won the Rumble or Chamber. Drew then tells Aldis to do the right thing. Aldis then tells Drew that it’s unreasonable to say over and over again that you’re going to let things happen the way they’re supposed to happen. Aldis then says that Drew broke his promise and he broke his promise. Aldis then tells Drew to defend the title tonight if he doesn’t want to give it up. Then Drew says he feels like he’s against the world. Drew then says he has beaten Cody before and he will do it again. Drew then says that the only way Cody can take the title from him is to take it from his cold, dead hands.

Nia Jax and Rush Legend then come down to the ring to celebrate. Nia tells everyone to soak it all in. And Nia says take a good look at the two 6-foot thoroughbred stallions. Nia then says she has the division locked. Nia then says they are two of the most dominant women in WWE. Nia then says that because they are generous champions, they welcome all challengers and it makes no difference. Rush then tells everyone in the back and in the locker room that this is their first, last and only warning that they are here and not going anywhere. Rush says it’s only fitting, then, to toast Women’s History Month.

Charlotte Flair’s music then interrupts and she walks out with Alexa Bliss. Alexa says she’s happy with Nia. Then Alexa said she finally had a chance to climb to the top. Alexa then says that the only reason they lost the title was because they cheated in their match against the Kabuki Warriors. Charlotte then says that if she wants a challenger, she is considering the next challenger. Julia and Kiana James then walked out and Kiana told everyone to wait a moment. Kiana then said that two weeks ago, she was in a triple threat match with Charlotte and Nia, and she was the one who won. Kiana then says that she was the one who pinned Alexa to the elimination room. Kiana then says she’s going to WrestleMania somehow. Then Julia speaks in Japanese. And she says she’s going to Vegas with the tag titles. Kiana then tells Charlotte and Alexa to do a favor and step aside. Then Nick Aldis comes out and says we don’t decide title matches on arguments, we decide on actions. He then says that Charlotte and Alexa will be competing against Julia and Kiana.

Tag match: Kiana James and WWE United States Women’s Champion “The Beautiful Madness” Julia vs. “The Queen” Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss

The match begins with Alexa performing an armdrag on Julia. Flair then tags in and sends Alexa to Julia. Kiana tags in and Flair hits a shoulder tackle and waistlock. Kiana then hits an elbow. Flair then hits a Flair flip and Flair kicks Kiana and Julia. Flair then hits Julia and Kiana with shells from the apron. Kiana then sends Flair into the ring post and back into the ring. Kiana then nearly falls. Kiana then kicks Flair and hits an elbow drop for a near fall. Kiana then sends Flair into the turnbuckle and Julia tags in.

Julia then hits a snapmare and a dropkick to the back for a near fall. Kiana then tags in and hits a shoulder bump in the corner. Kiana then hits a back handspring and running shoulder into the corner. Kiana then goes for a moonsault, but Flair gets her knees up. More chops by Flair and kicks by Kiana. Both women then fall to the mat. Julia and Alexa then team up and Alexa hits a shoulder tackle and dropkick. Alexa then hits some blows and knees, followed by a dropkick. Alexa then hits a flip senton for a nearfall. Julia then hits a sunset flip, but Alexa rolls through and hits a dropkick. Alexa then kicks Julia to the floor.

Alexa then hits a crossbody but Kiana catches Alexa and Kiana hotshots Alexa on the apron. Julia then throws a kick. Both women then return to the ring and Julia gets a near fall. Kiana then tags in and works on the back. Kiana then throws a punch. Kiana then strangles Alexa with the ropes. Kiana then knocked Flair off the apron and the referee had to stop Charlotte. Kiana then kicks Alexa into the corner. Kiana then hits a knee to stop Alexa and sends Alexa into the turnbuckle. Julia then stretches Alexa onto the ropes. Julia then hits a dropkick but gets a near fall. Julia then throws a kick and Alexa avoids Kiana’s shoulder in the corner. She then kicked Julia and Kiana stopped Alexa from making the tag.

Kiana then misses an elbow drop and Flair tags in and hits a crossbody on both opponents, followed by chops on each woman. Flair then hits a walkover clothesline. Flair then catches Julia and hits a fallaway slam, sending Julia next to Kiana. Flair then went up top and hit a moonsault on both women, which she hit. Flair then gets a near fall on Kiana. Flair then runs into Kiana’s boots. Julia then tags in and Flair kicks Kiana. Julia then kicks Flair and hits a belly-to-back suplex for a near fall.
