AEW Dynamite Results (April 22, 2026): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show begins with a video package recapping the events of last week, when MJF lost the AEW World Championship to Darby Allin.

Commentary then welcomes us to the show and the music hits as MJF descends into the ring and requests a cut of the music. MJF then says that last week was a screw-up in Seattle. MJF then said that Darby Allin refused to accept that he was world champion and called Allin a despicable cheater. MJF then says that he refuses to accept that Darby Allin is world champion. MJFF then reminds everyone about the person he defeated. MJF then demands that he regain the world title.

AEW TNT Champion Kevin Knight then comes out to interfere with MJF, but MJF seems confused. Knight then said that MJF was a bit mean and had him pinned in the middle of the ring forever a few weeks ago. MJF then badmouthed Knight back, insulting his promotional skills and insulting his performance from a few weeks ago. MJF then praises Knight for being the TNT Champion, but insults him for not being on the same level.

Knight then says he needs to send MJF off with a nasty slap. Knight then refuted claims that he was not a world championship athlete, saying anyone who looked at him knew he was a goldmine. Knight then stated that the TNT Championship is a flagship title and some of the best wrestlers have held it and that is why MJF has not held it before. Knight then offers to give MJF some compliments. And MJF says he believes the TNT title is worth having. MJF then says that he knows how proud Knight is of the TNT title and offers to wrestle him only if Knight puts the TNT title on the line.

Knight then offers to tear MJF apart right here and now, and MJF calls for the referee. MJF then rolled out of the ring and Knight said he was going to dance with the devil next week. MJF’s music then blares as he makes his way up the ramp.

Then we head to the back and Chris Jericho is with Renee Paquette and we end up facing Ricochet. Ricochet mocks Jericho as the guy who comes back to get his ass kicked. At Collision, Jericho is set to face The Demand and needs a tag team partner. Ricochet then says he can’t believe anyone would want to team up with Jericho. Jericho then says that he doesn’t need to find someone who loves him, he just needs to find someone who hates Ricochet. Jericho then calls Ricochet a “bald bastard” and walks away.

It has now been confirmed that MJF will challenge Kevin Knight for the TNT Championship next week.

Brody King then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night, followed by Lio Rush.

Single match: “Blackheart” Lio Rush vs. Brody King

The match begins with Lio Rush saying, “This isn’t his home anymore, and it never was,” as Brody King lunges at him. Rush then stands up and confronts King and bites him on the hand, but this infuriates King and kicks Rush out of the ring. King then puts Rush on a chair before charging in, but Rush gets out of the way in the nick of time, forcing King to crash into the barricade instead. After that, Rush continues to attack.

King then goes for a clothesline on Rush and starts to get back on track, still favoring the arm after what happened earlier. This allows Rush to drop the arm onto the top rope and then hang King with a jawbreaker. He then says “I’ve gotten really strong” before going for the Death Valley Driver on the apron, but King fights him off before going for the Gonzo Bomb. Rush then shoved King off the apron and leapt across the ring to perform a diving attack on King. Rush then slid back into the ring and climbed onto the turnbuckle, with King sliding back as well, but was taken down by Rush for a near fall. King then fought back and dropped Rush hard, followed by a Gonzo Bomb for the win.

The singles match winner is Brody King!

After the match, Brody King took the microphone and didn’t celebrate for long, stating that regardless of who becomes the champion, he is focused on the world title match and looking for his shot. King also told Darby Allyn that he was proud of him, but not so proud that he wouldn’t resort to violence if he was confronted.

We then head to the back where we hear from Tommaso Ciampa ahead of the main event. Ciampa addresses all the things people are telling him that he’s not big enough, strong enough, or “champion material” before stating who he is. And Ciampa concluded by saying he’s never seen anyone ready tonight to ask Darby Allin if he wants this any more than he has to. Ciampa then leaves.

Adam Copeland then cuts a backstage promo and offers up why he and Christian Cage deserve a final shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Copeland then challenges them to a New York Street Fight at Double or Nothing with the additional stipulation that if FTR defeats them, Copeland and Cage will retire as a team. Copeland then said FTR would think that was a good proposal.

Later, as Hikaru Shida descended into the ring for his next match of the night, there was an inset promo from Shida showing off her Japanese style against Mina Shirakawa. Shirakawa then goes down to the ring next to start this match.

Single match: Mina Shirakawa vs. Hikaru Shida

The match begins with Shirakawa locking Shida in a side headlock, and Shida hits the ropes to escape. Shirakawa then blocks an armdrag from Shida and sends Shirakawa into the ropes for a forearm, but Shida grabs him by the hair and drops Shirakawa to the mat. Shirakawa then follows suit, before stalemate with a double dropkick and glare down. Shirakawa then taunted Shida with a pose, dodged a kick, drove him to the corner, and sent him to the mat with a sling blade. He then tries to cover with a series of mounted punches, but Shida counters with a near fall. Shirakawa then sends Shida into the ropes, but Shida gets a clothesline.

Shirakawa then used his momentum to take down Shida and hit a tourneo for a two count. She then continues to work on Shida, focusing on her legs before going for a figure four leglock. Shida fights it off, but takes a few hits to the knee before heading out of the ring. Shirakawa then kicked her out and went for the legs to do more damage, but was caught with a headscissors and she was sent to the ring steps.

He then lifts Shirakawa onto the apron, but Shirakawa struggles before dropping a Meteora on the ring! She then brings Shirakawa back into the ring, going up top with a knee first and following up with another Meteora, but only for two. Shirakawa then launches a counterattack, ejecting Shida before they can exchange attacks. A Hurricane shakes Shida up, Shirakawa hits a missile dropkick, and Shida goes for a sling blade.

Shirakawa covers for a near fall and immediately moves into a four-legged lock, but Shida rolls onto the ropes and forces a break. Then Shirakawa gets involved with the referee and creates a chance for Shida to aim for the sword stick. Shirakawa then catches her and pulls her away, only to deal with Statlender on the apron, and while the referee is distracted checking Shida, Statlender hits a kendo shot on Shirakawa, and Shida defeats her with a Falcon Arrow for the victory.

The single match winner is Hikaru Shida!

After the match, Hikaru Shida and Chris Statlander celebrate.

Next, let’s take a look at Kazuchika Okada, who defended the AEW International Championship against Konosuke Takeshita at Double or Nothing. Okada said that Takeshita was still a young boy and would regret ever challenging for the Rainmaker title.

Will Ospreay then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night, followed by Mark Davis.

Ospreay struggles a bit and Davis is able to send Ospreay over the top rope to the floor. Davis then kicks him out and hits some knees to the chest as the match heads to the stage. Ospreay then blocked a powerbomb attempt and a big senton from the stage resulted in Davis falling to the floor. Davis then regains control in the corner with a neckbreaker and Ospreay fights back from a piledriver attempt, sending Davis into the corner. Ospreay then takes Davis down hard for a near fall, then Davis blocks a Hidden Blade and pushes Ospreay into the ropes. Davis then drops Ospreay to the mat for two and picks Ospreay up, but Ospreay gets back up and hits a thrust kick.

Davis then flies to the ropes but runs into a Spanish Fly and Ospreay gets a two count before Davis kicks out. Both men continue to exchange attacks until Davis counters with an Oscutter and then a back body driver. It happened not once but twice. Ospreay then tries to escape into the ropes, but Davis suplexes him back in and Davis follows up with an enziguiri. Davis then hits the ropes and runs into the Hidden Blade. Next, Ospreay tries to cover, but only gets two shots. Davis then blocks a Hidden Blade into a clothesline and goes for the cover with a piledriver, but Ospreay puts his boot on the bottom rope and breaks the pin. Caris argued with the referee about this and was beside himself.

Ospreay then tries to get back up, but Davis slams him into the apron with a piledriver. After Ospreay fell to the floor, the referee restrained Davis and medics were called to check on Ospreay as the referee ordered Davis to return to the ring. Ospreay then continued to tell Doc Sampson to stand up and crawled to the ring apron as Davis became increasingly agitated. The referee then spoke to Sampson, who informed him that Ospreay could not continue pitching, and the referee called for the gong. We then received official word via Justin Roberts that the winner here was Mark Davis.

The winner of the singles match due to referee stoppage is Mark Davis of the Don Callis Family!

After the match, Davis grabbed Ospreay from the apron and attempted to hit him with another piledriver until Marina Shafir, Jon Moxley, and the rest of the Death Riders stopped him. They then mostly just stare at Davis as Callis tells Davis to get out of the ring and Davis complies. Davis then regroups with Callis on the ramp as the Death Riders drag Ospreay out of the ring and carry him through the crowd and away from ringside.

Then we head to the back where Alex Windsor offers to tear apart Thecla, the women’s world champion. Persephone appears and offers to team up with Windsor to take on the Triangle of Madness.

Samoa Joe went down to the ring for his next match of the night, but his opponent was already in the ring.

The winner of the singles match is Samoa Joe from The Ops!

After the match, Joe briefly celebrated before returning to the ramp and joined Hook in applauding his return.

Next, we get a video package focused on Darby Allin ahead of the AEW World Championship main event.

Chris Jericho then appears and reveals that the two tag team partners facing The Demand are none other than The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley). Then MVP says it’s just business.

AEW World Champion Darby Allin then steps down to the ring. Allin receives a chorus of “You Deserve It” from the crowd. Allin says his first game was in Portland. Arin then says that if he confronts Ciampa, everything could come crashing down. And Allin says he’s seen the AEW World Title inflate people’s egos. Alin then says it’s for his retired parents, his beautiful fiance, and the Sherpas who helped him on Mount Everest.

Allin is then interrupted by MJF, who tells Allin that he doesn’t deserve S**. MJF then demands that Allin give him back the title now, but is refused. MJF then demands a rematch now, but Allin denies this as well, stating that he will not face MJF until he has something on the line because, unlike MJF, everyone behind him is entitled to a shot at the title. And Allin says he puts his body on the line every week, and that starts with Tommaso Ciampa.

Ciampa then leaves for the main event of the night, only to face MJF on the ramp. He then broke the ice with a kiss on the cheek before heading to the ring and both men were introduced before this main event began.

AEW World Championship Match: Darby Allin (c) vs. “Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa

The match starts with both men fighting from the corners, with Allin going for a coffin drop. Ciampa then tumbles out of the ring, but Allin catches him with a coffin drop to the floor instead. Ciampa then manages to get back in the ring, but Allin avoids an attack on the apron, and Ciampa slams Allin into the announce desk and barricade. Ciampa is still in control and he stomps Allin under the apron before throwing him into the chassis. Ciampa then sends Allin back into the barricade, but Allin avoids a running boot and climbs to the top.

Allin then stepped into the ring post and jumped with an elbow that sent Ciampa into the timekeeper table. Allin then returns to the ring as the referee starts counting. Ciampa slowly moves toward the ring, but Allin doesn’t let up and jumps out, knocking Ciampa down. Ciampa then blocks Allin’s return and the match returns to the ring. Ciampa sends Allin to the corner but Allin drives Ciampa into the canvas on the turnbuckle. Then Ciampa rolls out of range from a coffin drop and cuts in the opposite corner as well. Ciampa then lays Allin down with a set of chops before putting him on his shoulders and sending Allin downstairs with a Psycho Driller.

The referee is yelling to find out what’s wrong with Ciampa, but both fighters are struggling to get to their feet. Both men returned to the ring and traded shots until Ciampa sent Allin into the corner and traded chops. Allin then avoids a running kick, but is sent into the corner and stops just in time, hitting a double leg stomp to Ciampa’s chest for a near fall. They then fought back with strikes, with Allin hitting the ropes for speed, only to be sent flying to the canvas before Ciampa hit a running knee. Allin then managed to fight back and nailed Ciampa with a code red by slamming him into the ropes again, getting a two count.

Allin then goes up top and goes for a coffin drop, but gets hit by a rear naked choke from Ciampa. Allin then readjusts and gets cover for two. Allin then charges at Ciampa, who sends him into the exposed turnbuckle and hits a running knee, but only for two. Ciampa then picks up Allin and hits Project Ciampa. Ciampa then goes for a running knee, but Allin doesn’t give up even though he kicks out at 2. Ciampa then appears to taunt Allin as he goes for the Scorpion Deathlock, only to be hit with a boot to the face before Allin turns it into his own Scorpion Deathlock. Ciampa crawls to the ropes and struggles, but Allin pulls Ciampa back to the center of the ring. As Allin backs away, Ciampa gets harder and harder to get to the ropes, eventually getting to his feet and tightening the hold deep enough for Ciampa to tap out.

Winner and current AEW World Champion Darby Allin!

After the match, Allin was awarded the title while both men lay motionless on the mat as Allin’s music played. He then finally took a knee and won the title, Ciampa also took a knee and shook his hand to show his sportsmanship. Ciampa then places the title on Allin’s shoulders before rolling out of the ring, allowing Allin a moment to leave the ring.

Brody King then came down to the ring with a microphone and reiterated that he was proud of Allin and what he accomplished. King has spoken to Tony Khan and said that with Allin’s permission, the two will have a world title match next week. King then raises his hand before leaving the ring, and Allin nods and accepts. As the show draws to a close, the referee raises Allin’s arm again.
