Death Rider’s stranglehold about the AEW Trios title ended with the latest episode of AEW Dynamite as OPPS won gold in the stacked main event. Jon Moxley filled out the injured PAC, with Powerhouse Hobbs replacing Hook for the challenger, and both teams saw the replacement.
The young Bucks tried to shift the momentum of the match towards the Death Rider, but Swerve Strickland showed up to take both of them. Willow Nightingale pulled out Marina Shafir as the latter tried to use Hobbes’ chair. The finish led Samoa Joe to pack John Moxley to win the gold.
Deathrider has held the title since 2024 London, when PAC, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta ended patriarchal reign. Now the 234-day reign of Moxley factions is over, and it tells Joe has won the AEW world champion. It is still unclear whether this means a future AEW world title match, but this week’s loss is a serious setback for Death Rider.
