Adam Cole finally returned to the AEW ring after a series of medical issues forced him to spend too much time on the shelves in recent years. Talking to the Battleground podcast, Cole shared how these injuries were more damaged than he was alone in his body.
“In between a head injury and an unusual accident with an ankle six months later, an incredibly challenging obstacle was thrown in. So it was really mentally and physically discouraged, but even more mentally.”
After these obstacles, Cole feels “the best thing I’ve ever felt in that ring.” Especially after winning the TNT Championship in the dynasty. Now Cole is ready to do whatever it takes to keep money against a loaded roster of talented AEW wrestlers.
Adam Cole, the villain
Over the course of Cole’s wrestling career, he was a sleazy heel, including much of 2024 after revealing himself to be a demon. Heal Cole’s character beliefs may differ greatly from the man himself, but Cole enjoys being a bad guy.
“It feels good to play that character and get all that nasty thing from you.”
Cole turned his eyes to the world of film when discussing what makes a great villain. According to TNT Champion, the iconic bad guy is someone who reflects his or her moral object in his viewer.
“When you’re listening to a villain on a movie or a TV show or a promotion that explains something, when you get to go, he’s so jerk, but I’m looking at his point, that’s the best villain.”
As one of AEW’s most notable stars, Cole has plenty of time to convey his message to his fans. And while his path back from his injury is nothing more than a weak-looking comeback, Cole doesn’t count as soon as he returns to his sleazy roots.
