In his recent live stream on his Twitch channel, AEW star Kenny Omega sparked fan speculation by discussing the possibility of AEW’s mixed tag team tournaments. Omega has revealed that the idea is spreading behind the scenes.
“I keep listening sometimes, it’s sometimes thrown away, like the ramblings that I have mixed tag match tournaments. I keep listening to the possibility of playing this tournament.”
Omega expressed more interest in the dynamics of mixed tag teams than traditional singles matches when considering those possibilities.
“I was thinking more about what the tag team would look like, rather than what singles would look like,” he said.
Omega has since named a prominent wrestler of Japanese women’s wrestling promotional stardom as a potential dream partner or opponent in the tournament. He highlighted two of his current favorites.
“Someone said Mayu Iwatani. It would be cool for her and someone to team up. Starlight Kid and someone to team up. These are certainly two of my favorites from Stardom.”
Omega is a huge fan of Joshi (Japanese female wrestling). He also mentioned another highly respected name as someone who could be used in the Japanese wrestling scene, Chihiro Hashimoto.
