In the main event of New Orleans this week’s “AEW Dynamite,” Jamie Heighter defeated Chris Stalander to advance to the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Elsewhere, the rapper and New Orleans native master P opened the show by introducing new AEW World Trios champions, Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Island and Powerhouse Hobbs, before being involved in a conflict with Death Rider. A lot was coming to the surprise of TNA’s Tommy Dreamer, Master P screamed out from the live audience.

“I was actually shocked by the ovation Master P got,” Dreamer said on “Bust Open Radio.” “[In his] Hometown, I would say he is legendary, and I also know about the great charity he is doing there in the Louisiana area. I thought it was a cool segment that he came out. I was seriously like, “Oh, this might be bad,” but I think it’s fine, taking away from a few punches while Joe was there. But he works with Joe, who was a very charismatic speaker. It was an exciting opening. And if I could break down the dynamite, the audience was interested in everything. ”

Outside of his local philanthropy and music career, fans may remember Master P in his short run at WCW in the summer of 1999. Master P was a founding member of No Limit Soldiers, a homage to his record company, No Limit Records. Other members include Rey Mysterio, Konnan, Rey Mysterio, Brad Armstrong and Master P’s cousin Swoll. However, as Dreamer points out, the group wasn’t that popular with WCW Allegiant during their stint.
