WWE made big news by officially purchasing Mexico’s Lucha Libre Promotion AAA over WrestleMania 41 weekend. Since then, there have been rumours that the deal had happened because the AAA had money issues. However, the AAA talent director dealt with such claims and denied them.
While speaking to Infobae, AAA talent director Latin Lover is working on the claim that the acquisition took place because AAA went through a financial crisis. The Latin lover rejected these claims and said he had never seen any signs of financial trouble in the AAA. He noted that all events he attended were approaching full capacity, with no evidence that the company was at a loss.
“The wrestling site says, ‘What happens in Latin now? I sold it because I had a red number.” Honestly, I have never seen three-quarters of the venue. ”
Instead, he focused on the positive aspects of sales, pointing to new opportunities to offer Mexican wrestlers. He sees this deal as a major opportunity to gain exposure at a global stage like WWE, which many have long dreamed of.
“If it was sold for $50 million, as if you had a say.
In response to critics who say the company is failing, he insisted that WWE will not invest in things that it doesn’t see value. He said Triple H intends to respect the tradition and essence of Mexican wrestling as WWE sees the growth potential of AAA and moves forward.
“Who would invest in a company that doesn’t work for? WWE invested in what they believe they can grow. Triple H even said it wouldn’t change the essence of Mexican wrestling.”
This was set up at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on June 7th after WWE recently announced its first official crossover event between NXT and AAA, called NXT X AAA: Worlds Collide. The event will show off talent from both promotions and mark the beginning of a new partnership.
WWE also revealed that the deal was held in collaboration with Mexico-based sports and entertainment company Fillip. If everything moves smoothly, the acquisition is expected to close by the third quarter of 2025, following normal legal and business steps.
Though some people are questionable, the AAA-WWE partnership can be a major moment in wrestling history. It gives Mexican wrestlers the opportunity to shine around the world while respecting their Lucha Libre heritage. According to Latin enthusiasts, the move is not about failure, it is about growth and new opportunities. Therefore, we need to wait if it turns out to be true.
