In 2005, Shelton Benjamin fought Raw alongside Sean Michaels in a match where the shortpper won with epic talent. Michaels brought sweet chin music to the hollow Benjamin in a stunning place where fans will continue to celebrate in 20 years.
Appearing on Maven’s YouTube channel, Benjamin discussed some of the critical moments in his career. Looking back at the iconic location, Shelton made it clear that even Vince McMahon could not contain the enthusiasm behind the scenes.

According to Benjamin, the spot was conceived by WWE veteran Michael PS Hayes. In the video, Benjamin also explained how he achieved perfect timing while sharing the ring with the Heartbreak Kid.
“All the time I’ve been looking at Sean’s feet. This is one thing I do to protect myself. [waves arms in circles]. The signal for me was when my hand hit Sean’s leg. That’s when I bumped into it. ”
Benjamin has shared the ring several times with Michaels throughout his career, but this 2005 showdown remains the most memorable. The match resides not only in both men’s wrestling skills, but also in the exceptional athleticism and timing that Benjamin has acquired the nickname “Gold Standard.”
