Almost a year after the spotlight, the Ricky Saints quickly became one of WWE’s most impactful additions in 2025. NXT Just 24 hours after the AEW contract ended, the Saints have already won the North American Championship.
He quickly established himself as a star who sees in WWE’s developmental brand, but his leap into WWE was not carefully adjusted. According to the Saints, the move came together at a fierce speed. Conversation Ringer Cameron Hawkins, Saint reveals how quickly it came together:
“People think it was a few days ago,” he said. “I had never spoken to WWE at all before, so when I said it happened so fast, it happened so fast.
Chasing fulfillment
Just a year ago, the Saint seemed poised for an AEW breakout. He went to the toes with MJF and teamed up with CM Punk to counter it, winning the Owen Hart Cup. But behind the scenes, momentum slipped.
Following the early 2024 match, he was largely absent from AEW TV despite strong in-ring performances and fan support. Over the next few months, the saint was mostly on the sidelines.
He chose to limit his independent appearance and traveled frequently. Still, the absence was a sacrificed.
“The sense of fulfillment comes from actually making art, making art, and actually making something, and putting it there,” the saint explained. “When you do not have that opportunity… my fulfillment will cease.”
Important reminders
The turning point came after the glorious appearance of his home. Fan support reminded him that it is possible beyond the noise of online speculation. Less than a month later, he made his debut as the Ricky Saints in WWE.
His arrival was not noticed NXTList. The saint quickly found himself in a cold environment where his past admiration was recognized but not accepted. Nevertheless, the brand is the foundation of proof of his skill set, combining his promotional chops with the versatility within his ring with presentation.
The Saint soon defeated another Aew alumnus, Sean Spears, to win the North American Championship. That victory could lead to title defense against Ethan Page NXT Stand & Delivery View On WrestleMania weekend.
Looking ahead, the saint is not shy about his goals.
“My desire at AEW was to be given a chance and be given the ball perfectly. Obviously I want that in WWE,” he said.
“I want the WWE Championship, but the InterContinental title will be great along the way.”
