Aleister Black commented on the future of wrestling and potential retirement following WWE’s SmackDown return.
Following the departure of AEW in February, many speculated that Aleister Black was on his way back to WWE.
Last week, the video featured the date on April 25th, with Black’s return officially set for last night’s episode of SmackDown.
On the show, Black appeared again during a promotion with Miz on the show, entering in a remixed version of his original NXT theme song, dropping Miz in Blackmas.
Black is now 39 years old and he suffered many injuries during his time at AEW, he is now open about how long he plans to wrestling.
In a special video released by Josiah Williams, Black commented on his future in wrestling, pointing out that he hopes for another five to eight years left in his career.
He said:
“I’m 39. I hope there’s another five or eight years left. I feel good physically. I think this is the best I’ve seen physically. It’s a change in technology, a change in nutrition, a change in science, a change in sports science.
“It’s not sad. It’s a good thing. You can survive this long time and stay relevant. It’s definitely something I’m proud of. It’s a dedicated fanbase, especially when it’s something you’re used to in your entire life.
“Back to the first emotion you’re familiar with; everything’s bad, everything’s going to fall anyway. That doesn’t matter. That control is life-changing, and that mechanism is the best thing I’ve learned last year. This is an absolute part of me that was accepted, and I have 8 years left from 39 to 8 years left, and I’m fine with that.”
The Black return match is scheduled to take place at the Smackdown show next week.
