One of Stardom’s biggest stars dropped a bomb. Mayu Iwatani has quit her promotion, which she has been called home for over a decade.
At a press conference on April 28th, Iwatani officially announced that she had wrestled in Stardom’s final match. Speaking to the reporter, she said, “I’m going to run away from home.” She added that she hopes fans will continue to support her wherever they go next.
Iwatani’s decision comes one day after losing to Syuri the IWGP Women’s Championship at the All-Star Grand Queen Doum 2025 on April 27th. This loss marked the end of the latest chapter in a career filled with historical achievements.
Since joining Stardom at its launch in January 2011, Iwatani has built an incredible legacy. She is a former two-time Stardom Champion world, five-time Stardom Champion artist, two-time Stardom Champion Wonder, and Stardom and High Speed Champion Goddess.
Known as one of the true cornerstones of stardom, Iwatani’s exit remains a major gap in the promotion.
