Following the stop of his storyline for attacking Pat McAfee on the April 21 episode rawGunther remains off-screen. On airing on April 28th, McAfee officially challenged the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion to the match Repulsion May 10, 2025. As he said, “If I die, I will die.” Smackdown all-mangernick Aldis, who had been buried for injured raw GM Adam Pierce (and Gunther too), reluctantly played the match.
Gunther, who didn’t appear live, enjoyed watching the scene unfold. In response to McAfee being his next opponent, he wrote “??” on Twitter.

The match takes place just weeks after Gunther’s 259 Day reign as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion was defeated by Jawsaw WrestleMania 41. Since his suspension, Gunther has been reportedly seen in London, indicating that he may be spending time in Europe during his break.
