Smackdown after WrestleMania 41 took place last Friday, and the show featured many big moments, including a title change.
On the show, Zelina Vega faced Chelsea Green for the Women’s US Championship, and Zelina ultimately took the victory and became the second female champion in history.
The title change came weeks after Vega won Chelsea, which came as a shock to even some within the company.
According to Pwinsider Elite (subscription required), many people within WWE were legally surprised when Zelina won the US Championship for Women at Smackdown.
The title switch reportedly remained rather quiet, and most talents were watching backstage, unaware that a title change was happening until the end of the match.
The Women’s US Championship marks the first single championship in Zelina Vega’s career, previously winning the Ring Tournament Queen and Women’s Tag Team Championship.
