The worst WWE gimmick of the Triple H era

During WWE’s Triple H era, which began in 2022, he took over the creative direction of the world’s biggest wrestling promotion after Vince McMahon was eventually eliminated after dishonorable stories and allegations. Most of the Triple H’s decisions have been praised, but negative momentum has begun to build.

With fans disliked some of the recent WWE angles, it’s easier to look back at some of his biggest mistakes on the creative side. Triple h They put their talent on some inactive gimmicks that have hurt their reputation and felt flawed on WWE TV. Each of the following gimmicks deserve to be named the worst of the Triple H era.

Jade Cargill

The same presentation as AEW is not working

WWE signed Jade Cargill in 2023, signing it as a major example of someone leaving AEW for a big WWE push. Cargill has become one of the best known free agent signatures in recent memory as he hopes WWE will take away more powerful possibilities.

Much of the wasted time saw Jade feel exactly the same as she was involved. Using the same presentation Cargill had at AEW, WWE didn’t deliver great results as he wasn’t yet a singles title contender and was peaking in tag team runs alongside more experienced Naomi.

Omos

Failed to push as a client for MVP

Triple H took the risk by finishing the successful time of Bobby Lashley and MVP as a wrestler and manager. The MVP moved by representing the tall, giant Omos and tried to manage him to succeed in singles with pushes.

Unfortunately, the chemistry wasn’t there. Omos struggled during a push to play another general giant, and after leaving the country and finishing his MVP partnership, he gained Japanese Noah’s wrestling experience in order to improve his career.

Madcap Moss & Emma

The unpleasant face couple flares up

Triple H re-signed Emma away from the promotion and booked her to have an actual relationship with Mad Cap Moss as part of the TV. WWE portrayed them as common babyface characters who have no real features other than loving each other.

The feud between Carrion Cross and Scarlett did nothing more often to help Moss and Emma on television. Both began to lose spots as they struggled to overcome them and were released simultaneously during budget cuts.

Valhalla

Sarah Logan’s gimmick has floped

Another name that returns when Triple H gained power is Sarah Logan’s new role as manager of the Viking Raiders since she married Eric in real life. Valhalla was a name change as Logan boasted a new, strange look to suit the character.

Valhalla’s gimmick’s hunting approach felt a bit too cartoony for fans to truly invest in or give a noticeable response. Logan felt more important as part of the Riott team during his first stint, but she struggles to stand out with this Valhalla gimmick.

Pride

Lashley hated his reservation under triple h

Bobby Lashley has finally reached the true main event stage by becoming the WWE champion and leading the Heart Business faction as a top act. The Triple H change did not help Lashley’s career. In fact, after losing the MVP as manager, he pushed him back to the card.

Pride became a new group led by Lashley, characterized by his combination of street profits and B-fab. Minimal Chemistry saw what they had in common despite being black wrestlers, in order to generate more criticism about how Triple H booked Lashley. This failed gimmick played a major role in Lashley leaving and reforming the business that was hurt in AEW.

Charlotte Flare

Unrelated characters hurt the WrestleMania season

Charlotte Flair returned to the injury list more than a year later to be pushed to the top in his 2025 Royal Rumble victory. Triple H reserved Charlotte as an unfavourable faced character who boasted about her accomplishments and never failed to beat the audience.

The awful program between Charlotte and Tiffany Stratton pushed Triple H’s hand into the double turn, making Stratton face. Flair lost the match and later confirmed that the character on her face had nothing to do with ensuring that she had to advance the next evolution of her identity.

Shinsuke Nakamura

Lost all the fun elements as a general heel

Nakamura Shimogami returned to television after his break with a new heel persona called Wayward Samurai. The general heel character lost the joyful entrance and all the colorful plays Nakamura delivered as his beloved face.

Nakamura felt he was too dry as a character and failed to generate interest during the US championship push under Triple H.

Hit the line

Lost the magic without Swerve Strickland

The NXT chapter of Hit Row’s WWE Run felt that Swerve Strickland could become the future star leading Topdra, B-FAB and Ashante Adonis. All four members were released in 2021 as the group rushes for flounder under budget cuts and Vince McMahon bookings.

Triple H rehired three members of Hitlow as Strickland ended up signing with AEW for a bigger single push. You can see the group break up as he flops badly under Triple H, losing the spot quickly and Topdra was released incredibly.

Baron Corbin

Being a protégé backfired

Triple H took JBL as Baron Corbin’s manager and placed them together as heel units he disliked. Corbyn struggled to find momentum after WWE lost all his money and wasted his sad gimmick by forming fan connections.

Both JBL and Corbin felt like a typical heel playing the same character while still playing the same character. The partnership ended quietly, hurting Corbyn’s career and sending him back to NXT. Corbin worked hard to reconstruct his image with NXT, but he never got another fair shot until it reached his release.

Lacey Evans

A copy of Sgt. The massacre lost fans

Lacey Evans already had multiple failed pushes when Vignette promoted the return ahead of the 2022 update. I felt that the vignette was reminiscent of a sergeant. Her massacre career, and her return to the ring, saw her even using his Cobra clutch finisher.

Evans finds the failed gimmick even worse as he entered the war of genocide and words with his daughter on social media, and downplayed the person she copied. Triple H had one of his first big mistakes through this idea.
